Here in our home, planning out the future that we’d share with our families, I felt more connected to him than ever. More in love.

“We’d better start pulling the food we bought out,” he murmured. “As much as I’d far prefer to keep making out.”

“Guess all my responsibility is rubbing off on you,” I teased.

“I’d rather you rubbing off on me, if I’m being honest,” he shot back, those gorgeous blues sparkling. Fuck, he was so attractive my heart skipped a beat.

“Okay,” I said. “If we can get everything set up in the next half hour, then that gives us half an hour for me to blow you before the horde arrives.”

“Fuck, I love you,” he said, pressing a quick kiss to my lips. “You’re on.” With that, he all but dove for the fridge and began pulling out the fruit and veggie trays we’d picked up, and the fixings for hoagies. I shook my head, a grin on my face as I sauntered over to the cabinets where we’d put the trays. I set to work at a measured pace, while he launched in with his normal chaos, and my heart warmed at our contrasts, at how we completed each other.

Even in simple situations like this, we made a great team, and I was so thrilled we were finally getting the chance to live together in our own space. To carve out the future we wanted in a house we chose.

Rory lit me up on a daily basis, and now I could wake up next to him every morning, fall asleep next to him every night. Share meals, share stories, share pleasure, sharelife.

We were planting seeds here in this space, and I couldn’t wait to watch us grow, in whatever directions the days and years took us, as long as we were together.
