The drive back to her place didn’t take nearly as long as it did to get to the bar. At least it felt that way. Neither said much, simply enjoyed the anticipation of what was to come. Literally.

Nash parked and said, “I’ll come around.” Then in seconds, he was opening her door. He took her hand and held it tightly as he practically ran toward her apartment building.

“We have to take Rain outside so he can pee,” she said, more to remind herself so she wouldn’t immediately jump Nash the second they got inside her apartment.

“I know. I’ll do it. It’s dark out. Not safe.”

Nash’s sentences were short and succinct, as if he was hanging on to his control by a thread. It was empowering to shake this man enough that he could barely get full sentences out. It felt amazing.

When she opened her apartment door, Rain was once again sitting in the small foyer waiting for her to return.

“Hey, boy,” she said happily.

His tail wagged furiously behind him, but it wasn’t until she crouched and said, “Come ’ere,” that he moved. Rain bounced forward, almost knocking Amanda over with his exuberance.

“He seems relieved that I came back,” Amanda said, as she did her best to not get licked to death. The dog with her now was a completely different animal than the terrified one they’dfirst encountered in the jungle. It was amazing how a little love could have such a profound impact.

Rain turned from her to greet Nash. Not quite as enthusiastically, but his tail was wagging just as fast. “You need to go potty? Come on, let’s go,” Nash said, reaching for the leash Amanda had hung on a peg next to the door. It was obvious he was in a hurry to get the dog’s needs seen to, but then again, Amanda was just as eager to have him return as well.

“You want a snack or something?” she asked before he left.

“I want a snack all right,” he said. “You. I’ll be back soon.”

Amanda shivered at the promise in his voice. As soon as the door shut behind them, she turned and hurried to her bedroom. This wasn’t how she saw the night ending when she’d agreed to go out with Nash, but she wasn’t sorry. Not in the least. She just hoped the sex would live up to both their expectations.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Buck had never been so hard in his life. It felt as if his dick was going to snap off inside his pants. He couldn’t believe Mandy had invited him to stay the night. It was a dream come true, and he couldn’t wait to get back inside her apartment and finally do all the things he’d fantasized about.

He had no idea what she and Laryn had talked about in the bathroom, and ultimately he didn’t care, as long as it didn’t result in Mandy pulling away. But apparently, whatever had been said resulted in the opposite. For which he was more than grateful.

He hadn’t lied when he’d texted her last night. His apartment felt extremely empty. And he hadn’t slept well at all. It was amazing how fast he’d gotten used to sleeping with her in his arms.

Looking down at Rain, who was taking his dear sweet time finding a place to piss, Buck thought about how fast he’d gotten to this point in his relationship with Mandy. He hadn’t dated anyone in a long while. He’d had a couple of one-night stands in the last few years, but of course, they’d lacked any kind of connection, which made them awkward and unsatisfactory.

Being with Mandy was going to blow his mind. He knew thatwithout a doubt. She’d gotten under his skin in the best way, and he couldn’t wait to show her how important she’d become to him in such a short time.

Finally, Rain did his business and immediately turned back to the door of the building. He really was a smart dog, and Buck was more than pleased things had worked out with him being able to come back to the States with Mandy.

He took the stairs at a jog and was back at her apartment in a flash. “You’re going to be good tonight, right?” he asked the dog before he opened the door. “Sleep on the floor and not horn in on my woman?”

Of course Rain didn’t answer, but the look of adoration on his furry face anytime he looked at Mandy didn’t bode well for Nash getting the bed—and Mandy—to himself. He didn’t care if he had to share the bed with the dog, as long as it didn’t hinder his ability to show Mandy how much he appreciated her making the first move in asking him to stay the night.

“Mandy?” he called out, once he’d locked the door.

“I’m back here in my room. Last door on the left!” she shouted.

Buck’s cock throbbed in his jeans. Fuck, he wanted this woman. His skin felt too tight and his clothes extremely irritating. All he wanted was to strip naked and take Mandy fast and hard. But he’d go at whatever speed she needed. The last thing he wanted to do was freak her out. Scare her with his intensity in the bedroom.

To his relief, Rain padded over to a pile of blankets in the corner of the living area and got to work scrunching them into whatever he deemed to be acceptable in order to sleep.

Buck quickly walked down the hall toward Mandy’s bedroom, not sure what to expect when he got there.

What he saw endeared her to him all the more.

She was standing next to the bed, looking uncertain and shy. She had on a tank top and a pair of panties, and that was it. Herhair was once more sticking up on one side, and she’d removed the makeup she’d put on for their date. She looked much more like the woman he’d gotten to know in the jungle at that moment.

The only light came from the lamp on the small table next to her queen-size bed, so the room was dim but not dark, which was a relief, because Buck wanted to see her. All of her. Every remarkable inch.
