I wasted no time sliding into bed beside her, and she snuggled up against me.
“How you feeling, boo? Still good?”
“Mhm,” she muttered. “How’s my princess?”
“She’s good. Sleeping.”
“And the boys?”
“Their uncles got them. Raven and Jason are out there still with Pops too.”
“Can you believe we finally got our girl, pooh? How do you feel?”
“Like the luckiest man alive.” I kissed her neck, and she giggled and relaxed further against me. “I love you so much, Dova. I love the life we’ve built and the family we’ve created. Thank you for giving me a reason to live and love… a place to belong.”
“Aww, pooh.” She shifted slightly and faced me. Her hand cupped my cheek, and she gave me a tender kiss. “It’s been my honor and pleasure doing life with you. You’ve been my protector, my partner, my lover, my best friend for years now. Everything I lost, God gave me back through my union with you. I’m excited to see what else He has in store for us.”
When she brushed her nose against mine, a content sigh escaped me.
“Who do you love?” I asked, making her giggle.
“You.”
“And who loves you?”
“You.”
“That heart my heart?”
“Forever and always.”
“I love you, boo.”
“Mm…” Cordova tossed her arm around my neck, and as our heartbeats synced, she confessed, “I love you, pooh.”
