That was all I needed to hear, and I pounced on Ze, kissing the hell out of him for considering me an equal. I would pass the tests and help any way I could so nothing like what happened to me could ever happen to anyone else. But first, I wanted to molest my mate.

I had him almost stripped and was just about to get my first taste of his delicious cock for the day when there was a knock on the door.

“Yo, Boss, I know it’s technically your honeymoon and all, but we need to have a team meeting. A call just came in that the Syndicate is targeting a group of high school kids because one of them is rumored to be a Mage. We got to move quickly.”

I slowly pulled Ze’s pants back up and gave him a quick kiss with a pat on his ass to tell him to get moving.

We walked back downstairs where the formal dining room had been turned into a conference room, complete with flat screens on the wall and an entire bank of computers at the back. Da was talking to Kane and Jarvis. Sallyann had Eugene in the corner giving him hell about something and giving looks toward someone in Da’s group. Thorne and Geordie were talking by the computers and Geordie was showing him something on his laptop. Luke sat by himself immersed in a printed report.

This was my new team, my new family. I didn’t know what we would do about my brother, the traitor. I didn’t know what tomorrow would hold.

I watched Ze go over and sit next to Luke, and they both began to discuss a plan to keep the Syndicate from hurting the kids they were targeting. All of a sudden I realized I loved my life. I had always wanted to help people and thought being a doctor was the way to do it. Now, thanks to Ze and his team, I could fundamentally help all the creatures who were preyed upon because they were different.

I had everything I had ever wanted. I had a mate I loved, I had my freedom, and I had the power to change things.

I believed that with my new team, my new friends and family, we would change the world.
