Cibrina places her hand on his arm. “She’s covered on a bed in the infirmary. Next to Harvey,” she adds, looking across the room at Kellan.

The room grows quiet at the reminder of a fallen Guild member.

“I’ll come downstairs to help finish cleaning up,” Kell offers, breaking the silence.

Dane fists his hands. “Cremate both of them. So no one like Royce can use them after death.”

Cibrina gives him a curt nod.

Cassandra stands, pushing red curls from her face with a soft sigh. “Aiden should make a full recovery with rest. I’ll be in the infirmary if you need anything.”

“Make sure you get some rest, too,” Cibrina tells her, and Cassandra smiles.

“I could say the same for all of you. It’s the middle of the night.”

Kellan looks at me.

“I’ll keep them safe,” I promise, standing and jerking my chin at Aiden. “Get him in bed.” I’m not letting either of them out of my sight.

The others leave while Kellan and Dane help get Aiden partially undressed and into his bed. I do the same for Raegan on the other side, placing her next to Aiden before sliding under the sheets beside her.

No one will disturb them so long as I’m here.

Chapter five

Raegan

Iwakeuptobeing pulled into a warm body, a breath hot on my neck. Soft, lazy circles tickle up my thigh, clueing me in to who’s behind me.

Jackson is the one obsessed with tracing his fingertips over my skin.

It takes another second for me to remember what happened last, and I grab his hand to stop him.

Aiden.

My heart convulses in my chest, a gaping hole widening to consume it. I snap my eyes open—a demand perched on my lips—when Aiden’s face fills my view. My breathing stalls. A well of emotions crashes and flails through me like a dam breaking, and my grip on Jack’s hand tightens and shakes.

“How?” I croak, fighting back tears.

Jack kisses my nape. “He’s a stubborn one,” he teases lightly, and I choke on the emotion clogging my throat.

“You got him back?”

He hums into my skin, and it reverberates from my neck downmy spine. “He refused to give up.”

My eyes are glued to Aiden lying in bed beside me, still not quite believing it. I watched him get shot—multiple times—then thrown from the headland to the ocean and left there for fuck knows how long. I reach out to him, but hesitate right before I touch his sleeping face and accidentally wake him. “He’s really okay?” I whisper, my voice coming out thin and raspy.

Jackson chuckles softly. “Do you think I’d put a corpse in bed with you?”

“Jack!” I gasp, smacking his hand at my thigh.

He moves said hand between my legs and slides it up. “Shh... he needs his rest.” His fingers graze over my pussy, the fabric there so thin it’s almost nonexistent, and my breath hitches. “And I need to feel you. Taste you. Fuck you,” he adds, his voice so low and dark that it makes me shiver.

“Don’t even think about it,” Aiden threatens in a deadly croon.

My heart squeezes at the sound of his voice.

“Mm. Were you waiting for something else, then?” Jackson taunts.
