Jeremiah turned so they could look back. The three of them exchanged a smile, playful but certain. “It’s a beautiful thought, but honestly?” Lazlo said, before shaking his head. “We’re just here for a little peace and quiet. I haven’t had a full night’s sleep in almost two years.”
Patrick understood that feeling all too well. He waved, nodding. “Then for your sake, I hope nobody goes into labor this time.”
“Fingers crossed,” he said, holding up his hand to show his crossed digits, and August did the same with both of his hands. Jeremiah’s hands were otherwise occupied, but I hoped the universe was listening all the same. Those men deserved a night to themselves.
Patrick got back in the elevator, humming the whole way up to the penthouse where he’d left his cleaning cart. He’d been instructed to give the entire suite the five-star treatment. For now, it was a closely guarded secret, but he’d heard that the Hollywood actor Devon Blake was coming to town on his honeymoon. They’d technically been married a few months ago,but they’d put off the trip because of his filming schedule. Or so the rumor went.
While he dusted, wiped, vacuumed, and changed already-clean sheets, Patrick mused over how our priorities could change over time. Once upon a time, he’d been happy enough being single, daydreaming of fictional characters and their dramatic love lives. And then, after meeting famous romance novelist Jordan Kepler, he’d begun to dream of something more, his daydreams turning into stories that he shared with the world, earning him a sweet little paycheck. Meeting Alan at his boss’s wedding had turned his entire life, everything he thought he knew about love, right on its head. And now, again, with the introduction of his sweet baby girl Madeline, his life had once again reinvented itself.
He had no idea what was coming next, but he couldn’t wait to find out.
With a gentle smile, Patrick pulled his trusty notepad from his pocket and flipped to a new page. “Three men,” he wrote. “An alpha, an omega, and a beta. And together, they find their happily ever after.” He nodded. Yeah, that sounded like a true love story.
