“Might as well. What can I say? You convinced me.”

His face splits into a wide smile. “I think it’s a good idea. But you know what this means. You have to study harder than ever.”

I groan, even though I don’t really mean it. I know I’ll have to study, and it’ll suck because I won’t be able to hang out with Jasper as often as I’d like during exam season, but in the end, it’s all for the best.

As if he read my mind, Jasper leans his face closer. “It’s okay. Once exams are over, we’ll have all summer to hang out,” he says, breath tickling my ear.

“We should go to Sydney together,” I say suddenly. “We can stay at my house together for as long as we want. I’d be going back to visit my dad anyway, so you can come back with me.” I’ve already discussed my summer plans with Dad and Senior. Senior said his house was open to me during the summer, and while I want to stay in Easton with Jasper, I also want to see Dad again for the first time in months. “Have you been to Sydney before?”

“When I was little, but I don’t remember much of it.”

“That’s another reason you should come. I’ll take you to all the tourist places. The Sydney harbour bridge, the opera house, Bondi beach…” I think tourist places are tacky but if I was showing Jasper around…

I can already see it in my mind. The bright summer sun, the clear blue sky, Jasper and I walking around the city, holding hands…

“Luna Park,” Jasper adds. “We have to go there.”

“So, do you want to come?” I ask.

He kisses me. “Obviously,” he says when he pulls away. “I can’t wait.”

THE END.
