"Damned straight," Sarah commented as she joined them. "We're not letting you go work at any bank."
They all laughed. Valerie's eyes were misty as she watched Tyson. "I can't believe I wasted all these years."
"You didn't waste them," Vinia corrected. "You created two little lives, and we're all better off because of those kids."
After the elephant ride, the kids stayed with Colton while Tyson led her to the barn. They went straight to an empty stall, and Tyson pushed her back against the wall. He tilted her chin up gently and kissed her in a way that her entire body caught on fire.
"I think we're going to need to add to those kids out there, because I'm pretty sure Ernie just stole them from us."
"At least one of them," she managed to whisper. She pulled his head back down for another intoxicating kiss.
"You keep doing that, and we won't see that elephant again because we'll be in bed for a week."
She licked his bottom lip. "I don't have any plans."
He growled and listed her up and then let her slide down his body. "I have plans, but they have to wait."
Valerie laid her head against his chest. "I have to say. I'm sorry that so much happened between us, but I think we're better off for it, despite the bullshit."
His laughter rumbled under her ear. "If that's your way of saying you're going to run again, I'll hogtie you right now."
She squeezed him. "I'm not going anywhere."
They stood there together until she heard Londyn calling her. They walked back outside just as she ran up. "Ernie is going to live with Sheila, so I'll be able to see him again when I work there."
She turned and ran off. Tyson laughed. "Shall we break her heart that she still has a lot of years to go before she works there?"
"Nah," Valerie answered. "The years pass quickly."
He kissed her again, one full of love and promise. "You need to plan that wedding."
"Done."
"That quick?" he asked, surprised.
"I planned it years ago. Nothing has changed. We're just a little late."
He pulled her to him and spun her around so her back was against his chest. They stood there with his head near her neck, watching the kids with the elephant.
And there wasn't any place in the entire world that she'd rather be.
