He increased the pressure of his mouth on hers. “I love you more. And I promise never to raise my voice at you again.”

“I promise never to punch you in the nose.”

Jasmine waited for her husband to leave, and turned off the light. It had taken her breaking her foot to slow down and prepare for the birth of her baby and not concern herself with decorating a house. After all, she did have a luxurious hotel suite with room service to live in until they moved into their dream home.

It was a cold and raining early February morning when Sabrina Maya Singleton, red-faced and crying at the top of her lungs, came into the world. She weighed in at six pounds, two ounces and measured twenty inches. Jasmine had been in labor for less than three hours when her water broke.

Cameron had panicked while she had remained calm throughout the ordeal. And when he held his daughter in his arms Jasmine saw him cry for the first time. It took the birth of his daughter to crack his stoic, cocky, overconfident exterior.

The cast had been removed after three weeks and during that time she and Cameron had grown even closer. It had been a time of revelation when he told her he owned the hotel and had sold it to a group of foreign businessmen. They’d allowed him to stay in the suite until his home was ready.

Jasmine was shocked when he said he’d put the proceeds of the sale in a trust for their daughter’s future.

Cameron sat on the chair next to the hospital bed. Sabrina lay in a bassinet on the other side of the bed. “There was a time when I only had myself to think of. Things are different now,” he said, smiling, “because I now have a wife and child, so nothing else matters except you two.” Rising slightly, he brushed a kiss over Jasmine’s mouth. “Thank you for making me the happiest man in the world.”

Jasmine smiled. She never thought when she answered Cameron’s text to go out with him that it would result in her becoming a wife, mother, and a soon-to-be innkeeper.

Her heart was full.
