“Briar,” he groans, on the brink also.

His thrusts become faster, harder, a perfect culmination. I feel him strain, and it’s enough to send me toppling over into my sweet orgasm. I come, my legs wrapped tight around his hips ashe works himself in me, milking every last tremor through my body.

We sit on the desk for several heartbeats, our breathing ragged. I can feel my heart thumping hard in my chest. The air feels thick and heavy, filled with the scent of sex and heat and something that feels dangerously close to forever. Lucien pulls back and adjusts his pants, reaching out to settle my gown back over my knees.

“Move in with me,” he blurts, watching me. “Marry me, Briar.”

My heart does a somersault in my chest. I didn’t think it could race any faster, and yet here we are. “Marry you?” My voice is high, dazed.

“I love you. There’s no one else for me. Be mine forever.”

A lump forms in my throat and I swallow hard so I’m capable of words. But I know what I want and what my answer will be. How could it be any different to what I was about to blurt? I want him, love him as he loves me. There is no choice. “Yes. Yes, I will marry you.”

Lucien reaches for me, pulling me off the desk and slipping me into his arms in a fierce hug. I hold him tight. He is everything. We are everything and mean all to each other. I never imagined I would feel safe again. Wanted. Protected. Loved without condition, but with Lucien that is exactly what I received and it is heaven.

“I will always protect you,” he declares. “Love you as you deserve.”

I nod against his shoulder, knowing that truth is unbreakable and as solid as the foundations under the city in which we live. I trust him. More than I trust myself.

He pulls back and starts toward the door, dragging me with him gently. “We should tell our friends and family the great news.”

I laugh, pulling him to a stop before he reaches the handle. “I don’t think I’ve even met all of your brothers yet, nevertheless to tell them we’re getting married.”

“You’ll like them. And they know how much I love you, and therefore they will love you too.”

I bite my lip. “You told them.” How did this become my life? How can I possibly deserve this kind of love?

“Of course, they’re my brothers.”

I’m unsure how I can be so lucky and worthy of him, but I am worthy, no matter the doubts that once plagued my life. Everyone deserves a happily ever after.

I know how fortunate I am to have found mine.
