Pit shrugged.

“What’d you think? You’re getting married. Pit’s getting married. And Kelex is fucking MIA. He feels left out,” Deacon answered.

I looked over my shoulder at Tak staring out on the Vegas skyline before turning back to Pit and Deacon.

“What about you?”

“Me?” Deacon asked.

“Yeah, your ass ain’t up to shit?”

Deacon frowned. “Same ol’ same ol’. I’m not the one to be tied down.”

“Go talk to the kid before this stubborn ass fucker starts talking that shit about never fucking the same pussy,” Pit insisted. “Get on my damn nerves.”

I nodded and turned toward the balcony. As soon as the door slid open, the sounds from the nightlife happening some twenty-five floors below us floated around us. I pushed the door closed.

“Stare gazing? Really, when we’re here to celebrate? How long are you planning on staying out here?” I asked Tak.

“As long as it takes for you fuckers to remember tying your dick to one person is a fucking curse,” he said, dropping his cigarette and stomping on it. He half turned, giving me a once over. “But enough about your and Pit’s shitty mistake. Is there a reason you’re checking on me?”

“Worried about you. You’re looking glum for someone who should be happy one of his best friends is getting married.”

“Fuck that,” he said. “I said I would attend the wedding and party, not fuck her friends. And if I stay in there, one of them is going to get their feelings hurt.”

I smirked. “Quit lying. There’re at least two pussies in that room you’ve exchanged bodily fluids with,” I said, giving Tak a solid pat on the back. “Don’t be shy, you can tell me you’re feeling lonely with Pit and me engaged.”

I watched as Tak quietly contemplated whatever went on in his head. A sense of unease filled my gut. I didn’t like it when he got quiet.

“Come back inside. The champagne’s not much but it’ll take the edge off,” I insisted.

“Nah, I’m going to cut out early. Time to find me a piece of ass to wipe away this nightmare of marital bliss,” he replied.

“You’re going to miss the best part—the sappy retelling of how they met,” I teased.

“I was there for it,” he nonchalantly answered. “Tell them my stomach hurts,” he added sarcastically, pushing the doors open.

I watched Tak walk off as I re-entered the room. My hand was grabbed as soon as I did.

“Dance with me,” Syd purred as someone turned up the music.

“Anytime and anywhere, babe.” I leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips. I spun her around with my left arm, causing her to laugh out loud. My entire chest filled with something warm and comforting. I might’ve been teasing Tak on the balcony, but I was dead fucking serious about Syd. I knew something the kid had yet to learn. When it’s real, you’ll be itching to make it official.

Pit, with his arm wrapped around Skittles, inched closer. “Knew there was something about you. Must be crazy as fuck. Good, you’re good for him,” he said to Syd.

Syd looked up at me and wiggled her hips, dancing with her back to me.

“He’s been good for me too.”

I dropped a kiss to her lips. Lifting my head, I caught Tak standing in the foyer.

He gave me one last glare before storming out of the room, slamming the door behind him. Rolling my eyes, I turned back to Pit.

“He’ll be all right,” Pit said, not sounding too sure.

I snorted, looking back at the door. “Let the games begin.”
