“Marry me, Amelia.”
She pulled herself away from my chest to face me, her expression dancing with surprise and an unmistakable joy that made my heart sing. “I promise to give you my very best—” I paused, beginning to feel a wave of emotions welling up inside of me as I looked into her beautiful, emerald eyes. I cleared my throat to keep my composure. “I have to be honest, Amelia . . . standing next to me in this life won’t always be easy. I wish I could promise you that it will be, but I still struggle sometimes and I think that’s just a part of who I am. It’s how I was made, forged in the fire. But I promise to give you my fucking best, every single day. I will never hurt you. I will love you and protect you with everything that I am for the rest of my life, I swear it.”
I watched as tears began pouring down her face, collecting on her pillow as she reached up to lightly touch my bottom lip. I wrapped my arm around her, pulling her back close to me, feeling her heart beat wildly inside of her chest as her forehead pressed against my throat. “Logan,” she murmured into my chest. My name from her lips was the sweetest sound.
“Marry me,” I repeated. “Please.”
She turned her face up to me, gently cupping my jaw in her soft hand. I was the luckiest man in the whole entire world to have a love like this. A woman who so completely poured herself into me. So selfless and kind and sure.
Leaning forward, she pressed her smile against my lips as she said the words I was waiting for. “Yes, baby.” And then her mouth became an explosion of fury as she kissed me with her soul.
