He smirked. “Is it naughty?”

“Nice,” she admonished as she dug into the deep pockets of her cloak, eventually fishing out a circular metal disk hanging from a red ribbon. “I made it. It’s not much…”

“An ornament.” Philip held it up to the streetlight and burst into laughter when he recognized it. “You made this?”

“We had so many of the candied ginger tins, and I wanted something to help us remember this holiday…” She chuckled and peered at him through her lashes. “Do you like it?”

“A way to remember the winter when these candies were the only thing you could eat?” He paused to kiss her, long and slow, then placed his palm on the burgeoning swell of her lower abdomen. “I love it.”

She grinned, and the sight made his chest burst with pride. “I love you.” She nodded towards the ornament, now his favoritepossession aside from his wedding ring. “Shall we go home to hang that on the tree?”

He took her hand and put it in the crook of his arm before steering them towards home. “I can think of no place I’d rather be.”
