I help her attach the charm and then pull her to her feet. “Is that a yes?”
She bites her lip, her eyes dancing with desire and love. “What about our parents? If you get me a ring, we’d have to tell them.”
“Do you want a ring?” I wasn’t sure if she’d want to wait until she graduates from college to officially get engaged.
“Yes.” She locks her hands behind my neck.
“When?”
“Whenever you want to go shopping.”
“No waiting?”
“I’ve waited most of my life for this with you. I don’t want to wait any longer.”
It’s the best answer. I kiss her lips, soft and gentle and then deeper, savoring the taste and feel of her tongue. Mine. Forever.
She pulls back. “How are we going to deal with our parents?”
“We’re not going to deal with them at all. We’ll tell the truth about us and our decision and let them deal with their feelings on their own. While they’re working on their acceptance of us, we’ll live our lives. We’ll include them in whatever they want and share important news with them, like our engagement and impending wedding. I have a feeling our moms will get over it right then.”
She laughs. “You make it sound so simple. What changed?”
“My resolve, I guess. I’m going to marry you, make love to you daily, put babies in your belly, and love and care for you until the day I die.”
“Babies?” She quirks a brow but inches her body closer to mine.
“Baby, babies. We could have one and go from there.”
She throws her head back with a laugh. “When did you become so domestic?”
I raise my shoulders, my hands clasped firmly behind her back. “Maybe the moment I decided to be anything and everything you need.”
Tears fill her pretty eyes. “I love you. I loved you before. I love you now. And I will always love you.”
“Promise?” I brush the tip of my nose across hers.
“Promise.” She kisses me.
“We’re going to have a great life,” I murmur over her lips and feel her smile.
“I’m counting on it,” she whispers. “And you’re okay with taking my last name?”
Huh?I open my eyes and lean back to look at her.
“Nathan Vaccari has a nice ring, don’t you think?”
I smack her ass. “Do you want me to handcuff you to the bed?”
She squirms against me. “I know what I want for dinner now.”
“What’s that?” I walk her backward toward the sliding glass doors.
“You.”
