“That won’t even be an option,” Zoe reminded him.“Order is going to create new warriors if the knights decide to retire.”

“You’ll fade away and cease to exist forever when you die,” Grace said to hammer the point home.

Jacquin enjoyed fighting. He put everything he had into winning their wars.He hated the Soldiers of Chaos with a vengeance. It wasn’t easy for him to trust the cambions. All three females seemed mentally stable so far.The thought of bonding with someone he hadn’t even met with yet was going to take some getting used to.At least he didn’t have to make the choice immediately. His potential mate hadn’t even arrived yet, so he had time to contemplate if this was something he wanted.

Zoe watched the emotions play over Jacquin’s face. She wished he was Grace’s match, but it wasn’t meant to be.Another cambion was destined to become his mate, but she hadn’t been shown who she was or where she was located yet.

Trust in Fate,Amaros suggested, picking up on her thoughts.

I do,she replied.I just wish we could gather all of our family together now, rather than having to wait.

He didn’t ask her how long it would be until their entire team was assembled. The truth was that she didn’t know for sure. All Zoe knew was that Fate had set everything up in advance. They just had to play their parts and hope they didn’t screw anything up and risk losing any of the knights or cambions.

A shiver of dread worked its way down Zoe’s spine. It was a premonition of doom, but she sensed it was a long way off yet.She hid her trepidation from her mate and her friends. This was a burden that she would have to carry alone.
