“You’re not just a husband, Noah.” Her forehead creases. “You’re my best friend, my lover and the father of my unborn baby girl. That makes you irreplaceable and priceless. There is no ranking for that position.”
“WOW! Pretty good stats.” I gently nip her earlobe, and she sighs into me like she’s exhausted. “Do you want to lie down now? I’ll get you a bottle of water.”
“I’d like to lie down.” She grins. “And maybe you we can play, find the seahorse tattoo on your wifey?” Her brows waggle. The dirty little minx.
After her seahorse ankle bracket was hacked off, I wanted to give her a gift that was more permanent. When she graduated, I took her to Miami, and we had matching Seahorse tattoos inked in a place that only the other can see.
“I know exactly where that little guy is.” I chuckle. Fingertips trail over her belly, lowering to the stretchy waistband of her maternity jeans. “It’s only fair if I find yours, that you find mine afterward. He’s a little lonely.”
Rowan giggles and reaches up onto her tiptoes. “Thank you.”
“You don’t need to thank me, Rowan.”
“I’m thanking you for opening the random message I sent you that day. For tempting fate to switch the course of my life so it collided with yours. Who would have thought one message could have changed my life. Or that one simple message would have given me all this––given me, you.”
“You’re my soul mate. We would have met one way or another.”
“I love you.”
“Not as much as I love you.”
“Find the seahorse, Noah, before I start sweating.” She laughs and I kiss my wife so damn hard that she knows I love her more.
The End
