“But wasn’t it worth the trip?” Jade asked, looking over her shoulder at the man for whom she, too, had fallen throughTime.

“Most definitely,” Bridgette replied while her gaze met Ulrick’s from across the room. Heat flooded her body and she prayed such a feeling never went away.

“Do you suppose we’ll ever see Zoe and Megan again?” Jade asked, rocking from side to side to calm the infant she held.

“Considering what the two of us have been through to find our true loves, I have no doubt we may cross paths again,” Bridgette declared and watched her friend take the child so Thomas could also coo over the babe.

Ulrick nodded to Rowan who came over to Eustace to continue his lessons. Ulrick must have felt her need to be by his side for he then strode over to take her hand, leading her to a window seat set into the wall. He pulled her into his lap to keep her warm, since there was a chill in the air.

“You are well,ma chérie?” The husky tone of his voice as he spoke the French endearment had Bridgette wishing they were alone instead of in a room full of people.

“I swear I’m living in a fairy tale. Our story is the stuff dreams are made of when I’m asleep,” she said, running her hand up the front of his tunic.

“Then I pray we never awaken,” Ulrick replied before placing a kiss on her cheek.

Bridgette placed her arm around his neck. “I have never been so happy and it’s all because of you. Falling in love with you makes me feel as if I am soaring through the heavens.”

“You have made me a very happy man,mon amour, with the birth of the child,” Ulrick murmured in her ear.

She raised her free hand to caress his cheek. “You’re not upset that the baby isn’t a son?”

His brow rose at her question before he nodded to Eustace sitting at his desk. “I have a son, wife. What more can one man ask for?”

She nodded, while watching his face for any signs of regret. There was, of course, none, and her husband seemed more than content as he gazed around his solar at friends and family.

She leaned down to whisper in his ear. “Have I ever thanked you for keeping your promise you made at midnight?”

His arm tightened around her waist. “Have I ever thanked you for making a wish at that fountain in your future life?”

“Don’t you mean past life?” she asked, kissing his cheek.

A low rumble of laughter met her ears. “Aye, I suppose I do. Who would have ever thought I would find myself married to one of those future girls showing up at Dristan’s gates?”

Bridgette joined in with a light laugh of her own. “Well, I did fall throughTimeand land on you, if you recall.”

“And I am glad you did,mon amour. I will not haveTimetaking you from me now that we are together. Life with you will continue to be an adventure as long as you remain by my side.”

She stroked his cheek feeling the stubble beneath her fingertips. “There is no place on this earth that I’d rather be than right here in your arms.”

Ulrick pulled her down to receive her kiss as though there was no one else in the room. For several minutes, Bridgette was woven into the spell he created for them until an untimely cough brought them back to reality. She looked up at those around them with a sheepish grin, although she would never apologize for any public display of affection her husband gave her.

But Ulrick’s words rang true and Bridgette looked forward to the years ahead as their life together unfolded. She had fallen throughTimeto find the one man who brought joy to her very soul and even though she had to find him eight hundred years in the past, she, too, had no regrets. She was indeed thankful to the ghostly vision of Amiria’s grandmother who gave her a magical coin to toss in a fountain designed in the very image of the breathing knight who had wed her. She’d do it all over again in order to be with him. Life with Ulrick was going to be worth every sacrifice she had made in her past life far into the future in the twenty-first century. She was happy. She was blessed. She was very content.
