We were all farfrom perfect, but that was okay. I hadmy best friend, my soon-to-be husband and brothers inmy life now and that was just perfect enough for me. And when I hadthe chance, I was going to call Adam and Maggie, and hopefully, I’dhave real parents, too.

I turned awayfrom Mason and I smiled as Iscanned everyone’s faces. “I love you, all, and I’m so gladyou guys never gave me a choice to have you in my life.” They eachgave me a hug and whispered words of love and affection.

When I found myself backin Mason’s arms, I knew it was where I belonged and where I wasalways meant to be.

Epilogue

Shane ~ Two Years Later

Myhead jerked up at the sound ofa heavy envelope being dropped on my desk. I peered up at Mason andasked, “What’s this?”

“Open it,”Mason instructed, instead of answering. We’ve beenmarried two years, and he was stillas demanding as he ever was. But shadowing his father to take overBuchanan Industries in the near future couldn’t be easy.

I opened theenvelope anddocuments asthick as my arm slid out. Mason took a seat on the edge of my deskas I scanned the papers. “Mason, what in the hell isthis?”

“TheMorganCorporation is nowyours, Shane.”

I looked up athim, my eyes as wide assaucers. “What?!” Iscreeched.

“BI ran it tothe ground, until they had to sell it to us,”he explained. “Now it’s yours.”

“Mine?”Ihad gotten a job with asmall accounting firm shortly after we had graduated, but the jobonly lasted a year. While I wanted nothing to do with BuchananIndustries, Mason had insisted on me working for him because hedidn’t like going all day without seeing me. It was ridiculous, butbecause I missed Mason terribly because of his long days oflearning the ropes, I caved. I had gone to work for theiraccounting department, which Aiden was expected head upsoon.

“Yeah,yours.”

“But…how?Why?” I asked.

“EventhoughBranson got the bookthrown at him, it still wasn’t life in prison,” he said. “I wasnever okay with that. So, I made sure that whenever he gets out, hehas nothing to come home to.”

Theimplications of what he wassaying weren’t lost on me. “But, Mason…that means you destroyed hisentire family’s livelihood and legacy.” The idea was shocking. “Youdon’t think that’s a little harsh? He didn’t actually rape me, youknow.”

Mason’s jawclenched as he planted his handson my desk and lean into me. “I don’t give a fuck if he hadonly moved one hair on your head out of place, Shane. I want thesonofabitch dead. So, no, by comparison, I don’t think this isharsh at all.”

“Mason, what amI supposed to do with this?” I should be chastising him about the severity of his mentalissues, but his gesture was kind of sweet in thatyou’re-crazy-but-I-know-you-mean-well sort of way.

Hestood tall again and shrugged ashoulder. “You can do whatever you want with it. Take over thebusiness, sell it off or let it rot into the ground,” he answered.“I really don’t care.”

Ileaned back in my chair andregarded him. “You know, most husbands just give their wivesflowers or candy,” I quipped.

Mason smirked.“Most husbands don’t know how lucky they are to have a wife who’s you.”

Istood up out of my chair andwalked over to my husband. His arms were already opening for me andI glided into his embrace the same way I’ve been doing for the lasttwo years.

Harold Buchananhad crumbled under the threatof his sons and the backing of their mother, so Mason was able tocontinue school and when he got his degree, he went to work for hisfather immediately. It hadn’t taken much for Mason to incorporatehimself into the routine of things since his father had beentraining his sons in the business since they were littleboys.

Harold and Ididn’t interact often, butwhen we did, he was cordial, if a little reserved. But I didn’tmind. He was a horrible man who raised his sons under the umbrellaof abuse and intimidation; I didn’t really care if he never spokeanother word to me ever again.

Mason’s arms tightenedaround me. “I love you, Shane.”

My armstightened around him. “I know you do,Mason. I love you, too, so much.” He still hasn’t forgiven himselffor the attack, and I wasn’t sure if he ever would, but I would notlet him make us live in the darkness of that time in ourlives.

Our liveshave been two years ofunparalleled love and explosive sex, and that’s where I wanted tobe. “What would you say if I told you to go lock thedoor?”

“I’d say it’salready locked, baby.”

I pulledback and looked up at hishandsome face. I lifted the corner of my lip. “Hmm, pretty sure ofyourself, aren’t you?”

He smiled.“When it comes to you, I’ve never been more sure,” he replied, his face full oflove.

I smiled backas my hands started working onthe buttons of his suit jacket, knowing I was going to spend therest of my life being loved by this man.

TheEnd.
