The man walked right up to the window and stared at me, a slight smile on his face. My pulse quickened because there was something about that smile…About the way he stood, about…No…It couldn’t be.
I drifted toward the door.
“Orina?” Padma tried to grab my hand, but I shook her off, pulse quickening.
“I’m fine. Give me a minute.”
I stepped outside into the crisp afternoon air, and the man walked toward me, stopping a few feet away.
“Hi…” I studied his face then looked deep into his eyes, butterflies fluttering in my belly. Could it be? Everything inside me screamed yes. Yes, it was. “Kaster?”
His gaze intensified as he leaned in, his expression earnest. “Yes, Orina. I knew you’d see me.”
His body had changed, but his voice was the same. My throat pinched, and my eyes heated. “You came back.”
Kaster’s lips bloomed in a full-blown smile. “I did. And I’m never leaving you again.”
I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth.
“Orina? What the fuck? Orina!” Padma banged on the window, but I ignored her, losing myself in Kaster. Explanations would have to wait.
Orina’s story might be over, but another is beginning on the Isle very soon.
