“Boo-bee,” he attempts to say, holding up the flower again and then tries to put it in his mouth.

“No, we don’t eat flowers.” I chuckle and repeat for him, “Say Bluebell.”

He giggles and repeats, “Boo-bee.”

“What are you teaching our child?” Travis tries to sound scandalized as he walks over to us.

Henry bounces with excitement in my lap when he hears Travis’s voice. “Boo-bee. Boo-bee.”

Travis's gaze shifts to my breasts, and a cocky grin spreads wide across his face. “Yes, I see them, son. They are my favorite too.”

I roll my eyes. “He’s saying Bluebell, you perv.”

Travis laughs and lifts Henry into one of his arms and holds out the other for me. I take his hand and let him pull me up too. He wraps his arm around me and tugs me close for a deep kiss. After a few seconds, I pull back breathlessly.

“Not in front of Henry.”

"Be a pal, would you, buddy?" Travis spins Henry around, so he's facing away from us and pulls me back in for another kiss.

I chuckle against his lips.

So much has changed since my world was turned upside down, and I returned home to Centennial Springs. I couldn't have known then how much I would change too.

Travis takes my hand and walks us around the house. We walk up the steps of the back porch and look out at our land. Our little piece of heaven.

I suddenly remember imagining this moment not so long ago and thinking that I wouldn't be a part of it. It gutted me back then, but now I feel nothing but happiness. I thought what I wanted was out in the world, away from everything I knew. But what I didn't realize is that time away gave me the perspective I needed to see what truly mattered to me much clearer.

I turn to Travis and find his gaze already on me.

“Could you ever imagine we’d find ourselves here, married, with a family, and so happy?”

I smile knowingly back at him. “I had an idea.”
