Behind the bar, Zander uncorked a bottle of wine, and gratitude filled Adam.

They were on the mend. All of them getting stronger with every passing day. He had Eve to thank for that. She’d saved him. Kept him from self-destructing by going after Johnson alone. She’d given him what he hadn’t known he needed.

A purpose beyond the mission.

A reason to live. Not for himself. But for her. For Gray. For Davis. For his team.

He still had a lot to do, including getting Tak back. But until they had some intel on where he might be, the JTT were in a holding pattern. Maybe the CIA would have better luck. Then again, no telling if his mother could be trusted. Time would tell.

“I’ll take those,” Davis said as he rushed over to relieve Eve of the bags of chips she had pinched between her fingers. “There’s some big bowls behind the bar.”

“Thanks.” She smiled at the teenager, and he smiled right back. “Want some help?”

“I’m good,” he replied. “It’s your turn to pick tiles.”

He rushed off, and Eve lifted onto the balls of her feet to give Adam a quick peck. He wrapped his arms around her waist and turned the kiss into a hint of what would come later when they were alone. In their room. Naked.

“How long until this game is over?” he whispered, his lips still pressed against hers.

“Maybe an hour?” she whispered back, and his internal groan rang loud in his ears as she rolled her hips, rubbing herself against his grateful dick. “Think you can make it that long?”

“Won’t be easy.”

“Nothing good ever is.” She kissed him again. “But I promise the wait will be worth it.”

“Fine.” He slid his hand down her back, pulled her closer, and gave her butt cheek a squeeze. “Go get your game on. I’ll bring you a glass of wine.”

“Sounds perfect.”

“Perfect would be you begging me for more while I fuck you senseless.” He took a step back and checked his watch. “One hour. Starting now.”

She grinned at him and took a step forward, her body coming flush against his as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “Anyone ever tell you what a bossy pants you are?”

He snorted and dipped his chin. “You love me anyway, princess.”

“I do,” she said kissing him softly one last time.

“More than a Quarter Pounder with Cheese?”

She huffed, and her grin turned sassy. “Way morethan a Quarter Pounder with Cheese.”
