He scooped a hand around the back of her head and pulled her close to kiss her hairline.Yes, they were unconventional, but at least they wouldn’t be forgotten in a hurry.

The rings part was out because they wouldn’t be wearing them, so the judge went straight to, “you may kiss the bride.”

Except Rourke had just done that.

She turned toward the paperwork when Rourke grabbed her wrist to yank her back, swooping her down in a dramatic dip to plant his mouth on hers.Idiot.Anything for a kiss.Over the top.Flashy.Bold.Ridiculous and melodramatic. But she swooned all over again. He’d found the perfect kiss that suited them for such a moment.

When he brought her back to her feet, she smacked his chest but laughed at him.“You wrinkled my dress.”

“I’ll do worse to it later,” he said and smacked her ass.“Another vow.Now where do I sign my name? We’ve come all this way, no point falling at the final hurdle.”

After what was probably the quickest wedding in history, they tumbled into the back of a limo bound for the hospital where her mom waited.

Sitting side by side, silence reigned.Rourke opened his hand, offering his flat palm like he had on the bench the day they met.She slapped hers onto it, twining their fingers together as his knuckles fell to his leg.

“How do you feel?”

“You mean do I feel different?”she asked.“Now that I’m your ball and chain? Not as different as I thought I would.”

“We should grab Mom and go home.”

“Damn, that’s right, my mom will be on the plane.”

“Why?What were you thinking?”he asked.

“Nothing that smile hopes,” she said though it wasn’t at all true.“Okay, the truth is, I only married you to join the mile high club. Can we annul this quickly?”

“You know you don’t have to be married to have sex, right? We’ll do it on the way to LA.”

“In a helicopter?”

“Hey, you said try new things or surprise me or something whatever.”

And it worked for him that her curiosity was working.“Do you think anyone ever did it in a helicopter?”

“Someone somewhere at some time, probably. It would be easier if it was on the ground.”

“Well, obviously,” she said.“We’ve got land, we can hire one.”

“I love how our marriage is going so far.Start as we mean to go on.Prioritizing sex over everything else, over family, over friends, business…”

She kicked off her shoes.“We could do it now, get it out of the way.”

“Cool.”

He leaned forward to take off his jacket and she undid a couple of his shirt buttons, not that it was necessary. As she wriggled out of her panties, he opened his fly, and she leaped on to straddle him.

Just as flesh met flesh, she tensed.“Wait,” she said, grabbing his shoulders.“Are we allowed to do this?”

“More allowed than we were this morning, living in sin.Worst is we don’t get our deposit back, but we’re not the first two people to screw in the back of a rented limo.I can loop Zairn in on speakerphone if you need him to talk you through the logistics. He’s always at it, if you believe the stories.”

“My mom will be in here with her nurse person soon.Isn’t the first time supposed to be special?”

He snorted and with cause, since when did they care about special?“The wife thing’s really gone to your head. Our first time was at home.”

She shoved his shoulder.“Our first time as a married couple. You’re ruining the mood.”

“You brought up your mom!”
