Settling back down by his side, she nuzzled him with her nose. “Our pasts helped shape us into who we are now, so I think we found each other exactly when we were supposed to.”

Christian’s arm squeezed tight around her. “How did I get so lucky to find such a wise female?”

Lily let out a scoffing snort. “You just said it was destiny and now you’re claiming luck. Which is it?”

“It was definitely my destiny to find you, but I’ll be thanking my lucky stars if you tell me you’ll marry me.”

With her heart feeling like it was going to pound out of her chest, Lily once again sat up to look at her male, her eyes searching his and finding complete sincerity.

“I’ll understand if you won’t,” Christian said, flinching slightly. “I have a lot of baggage.”

Without hesitation, Lily leaned forward and kissed him. Against his lips she whispered, “I’ll help carry yours if you help carry mine.”

With a celebratory shout, Christian rolled her beneath him and once again, managed to curl her toes.
