“I know right? And…” She looks over to Case and smiles. “He donated to a charity that helps survivors rebuild their lives after a fire… in my parent’s name and honor.”
Amelia covers her mouth and tears begin to form in her eyes. “Oh... oh my god.”
I look over at Case and give him a nod.

Cadence comes trotting in a few minutes later with her unnamed puppy on her heels.
“I’ve got it!” she declares, much like Case did the day he decided on his gift to Nora.
“Got what?” I ask.
“His name.” She points to the puppy that is now sitting at her feet.
“Let’s hear it,” Amelia says. “I’m excited.”
“Santa Paws!” she announces loudly, with her hands up. “I got him on Christmas! He’s a Christmas dog, so that makes the most sense to me. Santa Paws Aldrich.”
We all burst out laughing and I lean down to give the dog a scratch behind the ears.
“You know what. I think it’s perfect,” I say. “Welcome to the family Santa Paws.”
