My hand climbed up the hem of her dress, and I filled it with her firm little ass. Hiking her leg up my hip, I pressed myself against her like I’d been dying to for days.
Maggie responded to my every move with some sort of whimper or moan, but there was this primal part of me that needed to hear her say it.
“What do you want, Peach?” I rumbled into her ear, where I’d been nipping and kissing. “Just tell me and it’s yours.”
She panted, “You. I just want you.”
And it was like my world was in technicolor again.
Just like after our first date, I carried her off to my room, but this time, there wasn’t anything slowing me down. Nothing holding me back. This time, it was urgent and necessary. Because although we hadn’t gone longer than a few hours apart over the past few weeks, we’d denied our bodies for far too long and they were in control now.
We stripped each other naked, and the moment there was nothing left between us, I wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her up the bed.
She clung to me, and as her head hit the pillow, she looked deep into my eyes and confessed, “I missed you, Shane.”
“Hey, I was right here the whole time.”
There was so much sincerity in her brilliant, blue eyes. So much tenderness and adoration and maybe something more. Still, she never lost her wit. “Being friends with you sucked anyway. I hated it.”
I pressed my fingers to her lips. “Shhh. You talk too much.” Then I winked. “I hated it too. Friendship over.”
Holding my weight above her, she parted her legs to open for me. “Let’s never be friends again,” she whispered and then reached up to pair our lips.
That was all I’d needed to hear before I drove into her and officially broke through the walls of the friend zone.My fingernails dug into his back as he ground into me with such force. Such abandon. Such possession.
He was right. We couldn’t be friends and be true to each other or ourselves. It wasn’t his fault that every time I saw him, I wanted to climb his strong body like a tree and kiss the living hell out of him. No more than it was my fault that he had a weird, pervy thing for my shoulder, which by the way I happened to adore.
I had no clue what the future held. No idea what tomorrow would bring. But each time he groaned and moved deeper inside me, the less I cared about having all the answers. All that mattered was right now and how good it felt to give into this desperate need we had for each other. All that mattered was the pleasure he gave me from head to toe. All that mattered was the way he rasped, “Oh, Maggie,” when we finally fell apart together in his bed.
And all that mattered was the joy in his eyes when I said, “Don’t even think I’m done with you yet tonight, old man.”
It was like we were lovers who’d been apart for years. We had sex, talked, ransacked his nearly bare cabinets, and then had sex on his kitchen floor. I laughed the whole time because he’d opted to wear his kneepads for that one, but he didn’t disappoint, and I will admit it was money well spent. We chugged water from a shared glass and then went at it again on his couch.
We went on and on like that for hours. Sex. Laughs. Talking. Repeat. Long through the night, until it was the next morning, which we mostly catnapped naked through. Then we ordered takeout and I moved things to my apartment so I could share the magnificence that was Sprayonce. Tell you what, his big, sexy hands knew how to handle her, and I told him so. The two made quite the team.
It was the cleanest dirty shower in the history of hygiene.
While we towel-dried, I asked the one question that had been gnawing at me the entire day.
“Mr. Warren, I have a question.”
“Yes, Peach. What can I help you with, and where are your Q-Tips?”
I pointed to the medicine cabinet and continued, “What happens tomorrow at work?”
With one of my teal towels wrapped around his waist and his eyes rolled back into his head—apparently, he enjoyed cotton swabs more than I did—he answered. “Well—and I can only speak for myself—but it used to involve a lot of Minesweeper. But recently, since this hell-bent blonde showed up across the hall from me, trying to get me fired, I’ve been dipping my fingers into a little thing we in the biz call marketing and advertising.”
He was adorably annoying.
“I know what we do at work, you turd, but like, what about this?” I motioned between the two of us.
