It wasn’t long before I was rolling us around, tossing a condom on, and pounding into her from behind.

How come I couldn’t have been up against some sloth at work with webbed fingers and toes who looked like a bridge troll from Transylvania? Why did it have to be her? This hilarious, drop-dead-gorgeous woman who I feared I’d never get enough of.

Fuck it all. Right now was what was important.

I was inside her and she was saying my name between whimpers and moans. I kissed her spine between her shoulders and wrapped a hand around to her clit, knowing we were both about to come. After a few presses and circles around her sex, she tightened and that was all I needed to send me into orbit.

“God, Maggie,” I gritted through my teeth at the beginning of my orgasm.

“Don’t stop,” she panted. “I’m there. I’m there.”

That went without saying. She tightened around me, and without question, it was the most powerful feeling. Being with her wasn’t just sex. Yet I couldn’t put my finger on it. There was this connection, this mutual give and take.

And moments later, after we’d each used the bathroom and gotten water, as she rested her head on my chest, I stroked her wild, sex-fluffed curls. Her breathing leveled off and her muscles relaxed into all of my hollow spots.

“Peach,” I whispered, unsure if she was asleep yet.

“Yeah,” she quietly answered.

“Whatever happens tomorrow, I want you to know that this wasn’t all just a fling to me.” I pressed my lips to her forehead. “Don’t think I’m some crazy, clingy maniac or anything, but I really like you and I want all of this to work out so damn much.”

She inclined her head and propped her chin on my pec. “Me too, big guy. But sometimes life is out of our hands. We’ll just have to see what happens and hope for the best.” She returned to the crook of my arm. “Now shut up. I have a big day at work tomorrow.”

“Okay, I’ll let you sleep, but one more thing.”

She groaned, but I didn’t miss the chuckle as her stomach bounced against my side. “What?”

“You definitely got the blow job position.” I pulled her in closer. “In fact, you may already be up for a promotion.”

She kissed my chest, and even after she pulled her lips away, I could feel the ghost of them where she’d pressed her mouth to my skin.

I fell asleep begging God to let things go our way the next day because I didn’t know what I’d do if I lost everything—and that included her.He was gone when my alarm went off that morning. With his bathroom and his closet connected to his bedroom, I had no idea how I hadn’t heard him getting ready for work. Being that it was only six, I was betting he had gone to the gym first. Smiling to myself, I silenced the alarm on my cell phone only to see a notification sitting on my home screen.Shane: Good morning, Peach. In an apparent miracle, I was somehow able to regain function of my limbs after you nearly destroyed me last night. Thank you, by the way. I went to the office early to get things ready for our discussions of world domination with Casey. Twist the lock on the knob when you leave. I’ll see you when you get here.Shane: P.S. You’re incredible. Minus your snoring, I almost wished my legs hadn’t worked when I had to climb out from under you this morning.Laughing, I read the texts twice before replying.Me: How the hell did you sneak out of here without me hearing you this morning? His reply came almost immediately.Shane: You have so much to learn about my ninja skills.Shane: Also, I stole your keys off the bar and got ready at your place so I wouldn’t wake you up.Any other guy, at any other stage in my life, on any other day when I hadn’t woken up still sated from a night of multiple orgasms, and I would have lost my shit at such blatant disregard for my privacy.

But it was Shane.

I was happy.

And my body did in fact ache in all the right places.

So, yeah, the least I could do was give him a free pass on his inherent lack of personal boundaries.

With the promise of us talking to Casey and figuring out a way for both of us to end the day gainfully employed, I hurried to my apartment and got ready for the day.

It was just before eight when I made it to the office. I had to admit living only a few blocks away made my commute pretty painless. Though walking those few blocks the day before in a pair of my fancy new work heels that had yet to be broken in had been agony. This morning, I’d smartened up and worn a pair of ballet flats for the trip, having tucked my heels for the day in the leather messenger bag Heath’s wife, Clare, had bought me as a going away gift. With comfortable, and seriously not stylish, footwear in mind, I made a beeline straight to my office to change.
