“Ow,” he says, rubbing at it.

“You’re the one who ripped them off me. Thanks to that and what happened tonight, I’m probably banned from this hotel forever.”

He glances down at me, eyes alight with humour. “You can stay at my place tomorrow night. Subject to an approval process.”

“Your feline friends?”

“You’ll need to be on your best behavior.”

I roll my eyes. “Right. After all this, I wouldn’t keep your hopes up.”

I stay curled in his arms and let the hormonal fantasies of two horny teenagers play out. This is one for the record books. Hard to believe I can outdo some of my worst Stanford antics. Best I keep this story to myself.

Forever.

Morgan fingers the silk roses stitched on the hem of my dress. “You won’t need anything this fancy tomorrow. I wish we could stay on Liberté until you leave, but she’s scheduled for maintenance Thursday.”

In the chaos, I’ve totally forgotten we’re on his yacht tomorrow. I ask him if he wants to cancel, given the circumstances, but he’s adamant we go.

“I’ve been looking forward to this all week. But only if you’re up for it.”

It’s all I can do to put the night, the whole week into some sort of perspective. It feels like I’ve lived a year and during that time, became someone else. Or maybe, I’ve become myself again. One painful blowup at a time.

“At this point,” I say. “I think it’s time I keep a low profile. Sea level sounds about perfect.”

Morgan settles the bill and we wait for the best opportunity to slip out undetected. He suggests we both get some sleep instead of him keeping me awake all night in my room. He wants me well rested for tomorrow. I'd love to fall asleep in his arms, but Morgan's right. Sleep would be low priority. I ask him what I should bring for our day at sea, and he says just a bathing suit.

After a dreamy kiss that curls my toes, he adds, “Although you might not be wearing it all that much.”
