Color swirled in his eyes. “So do I.” Then, on a growl, he pulled out and rammed into her. Over and over before he leaned down and sank his fangs into the swell of her breast. Every pull of her blood he took caused a mini explosion of pleasure. Each new orgasm built from the previous until her bones felt like jello and she was positive she wouldn’t be able to move for a week. With one last thrust, he swelled and spilled his seed, which sent her into another spiral of intense pleasure.

Several heartbeats later, he rolled free and pulled her into his side. It was then she noticed the mark on her wrist. Lifting her arm, she stared at it. The marking had darkened to the color of midnight and the lines had thickened. What once looked more like a faded tattoo now appeared as if she had only gotten it hours ago. A perfectly shaped heart was pierced by an infinity marking.

“Mine matches,” Wolfe said as he held his wrist next to hers.

“I feel different. I mean, I know we were connected because you are my sire, but this feels different. It’s as if you are part of me now.” She looked up at him.

“I know what you mean. Something clicked inside me. Like a missing piece of my puzzle had been found and put back into place.”

She sat up. “They were right then. We were fated to be together.”

“I have never been happier than I am right now.” He pulled her back down and kissed her while she crawled over him and seated herself on his still hard cock. They were going to be here awhile.

Wolfe triedto focus on the road as he maneuvered the Jeep around a graveyard of vehicles that blocked his way. Aurora had insisted she sit in the back with Luna, while Noah was across from him in the passenger seat. Wolfe had decided with the change in status between himself and Aurora, it was better if Adam stayed behind, so it was just the three of them to protect Luna.

Fuck! He prayed he had made the right decision.

According to Noah, they should be able to make Vegas in about six hours, barring any complications. He hoped that was accurate, because they had just enough fuel to get them there. Noah explained he had stashed another vehicle for them that had a full tank, but who the hell knew how much closer that would get them to Kentucky. Everything was left to fate, and he wanted to say fuck that bitch, but as he looked in the rearview mirror, he locked eyes with her. The woman he loved more than anything else and it had been fate who had made certain they found each other again.

No, he would not utter one bad word regarding fate or destiny.

The sun reflected into his eyes, causing him to squint. As he held his hand up to try to block it, a chill ran up his spine.

“There’s something out there and it’s coming this way,” Noah said as he grabbed his sniper rifle. In order for him to use it, Wolfe would have to stop, and his gut currently screamed at him whatever was headed their way wasn’t friendly.

A gas station came into view on his right, so he swerved, their bodies bounced as he maneuvered at a much too high speed over buckled pavement. When he slammed to a stop, he looked in the mirror.

“Luna?”

“I’m fine.”

“Aurora, get her inside and find someplace safe.” He had already used his senses to determine the place was empty. He only hoped whatever was coming at them could be taken out quickly. The station sat in the open and it was an easy target to surround.

Everyone piled out. Noah raised his sniper rifle and aimed it toward whatever was coming their way.

“Can you see anything?” Wolfe grabbed his own weapon.

“Only that fucking glare, but my spidey senses tell me we’re not going to like this.”

“Yours and mine both.”

Both Wolfe and Noah were behind the Jeep, Noah facing whatever was oncoming, while Wolfe turned to check their backside and the station. It was then he heard it. The telltale whistle of a bullet heading toward them. They both ducked as the bullet grazed past Wolfe’s temple.

“That was too fucking close,” he snarled. Now he was pissed, but he didn’t have time to think about it further as more projectiles headed their way. Several broke their way through the glass on the Jeep while others pierced the windows of the gas station.

Aurora?

We’re fine. You guys just watch your heads out there.

I fully intend to do just that.

He broke off the conversation when the enemy finally came into view. It was like a cheesy apocalyptic movie where the bad guys roll up in spiked metal cages with wheels. A few were even on motorcycles covered with armor.

“This station is empty of fuel. We checked it. So, where did they get theirs to be running all those vehicles?” Noah asked as they both stared at no less than six vehicles and at least a dozen people.

“Those are humans.” His senses told him there was not a demon or vampire in the group. Noah nodded, confirming he sensed the same.
