After the wedding, Evie didn’t talk to her mother for about three months. Then she went out to lunch and drew some hard boundaries, and much Cash’s surprise she had respected them. She had apologized to Cash and been a different person since. While she still wasn’t his favorite person, he was happy for Evie’s sake. They saw them about once a month, and that was enough for them. Mostly, he was just happy to be with Evie. Even after a year he was still just as smitten with her as he had been last summer. She was everything to him.

“I love you,” he said to her simply.

“I love you too,” she said as simple as breathing.

“So, I’ve been thinking. The off season has been great spending so much time together, but with training camp right around the corner. I was wondering…” Why did he feel nervous? He got in bed and pulled her close to him.

“What?” she asked taking him in.

“I was wondering if you would want to move in here. I know you love your townhouse, but with River moving in with his band, and our season’s starting –”

“Yes! I think that’s a good idea. I was actually going to suggest it. I have a meeting with a realtor on Monday.”

“Seriously?” he said, beaming at her.

“Yeah, we both get so busy, I thought it might be nice to be in one place.”

“I agree, now get in here,” he said, holding his arms wide.

She snuggled in and he kissed the top of her head. She still smelled like Roses.

“I think I’ll like you living here. Even when I’m on the road, just knowing you’re home in this bed will make me happy.”

“We’ve had some good times in this bed,” she said with a knowing glance.

“Care to add another memory to get us through those long road trips,” he said as he moved over her and settled in between his legs.

“It’s like you can read my mind,” she said before he kissed her, then they were both done talking.
