And Ash was all of those wrapped into one.

“All right, we’re here,” he said.

The first words he said to me the entire trip, and it was when his bike finally slowed to a stop. The ride seemed like it was over in the blink of an eye, and when I slid my helmet off, I found us smack-dab in the middle of the woods. Well, not really the woods. It seemed as if we were in some sort of clearing. In front of me was a very well-kept double-wide trailer with a beautiful wildflower meadow behind me. Surrounding trees came from every angle, and a shimmering, shining lake was about a quarter of a mile in the distance away.

“Where in the world are we?” I asked.

Ash slid off the bike. “This is my place.”

I blinked. “You live here.”

“Yep.”

“In the middle of a meadow.”

“Eh, it’s a decent plot of land.”

“It’s a wildflower meadow, Ash. With a lake.”

He nodded. “Nice fishing in the summer, too.”

I snickered. “So, you fish.”

“Yep.”

“Do you hunt?”

“Yep.”

“While you live out here in your secluded wildflower meadow?”

He shrugged. “Why not?”

I shook my head. “You’re something else, you know that?”

He paused. “I don’t get it.”

I giggled as I hopped off the bike and I wrestled my bags out of the compartments. But I didn’t even get them at my sides before Ash scooped them out of my grasp. He hoisted them beneath his arms and motioned with his head for me to follow, and my heart skipped a beat.

My ex really never did things like this for me.

“So, this is my place. You’re welcome to any of it, but I’ll show you where you’ll be staying.”

I pointed. “We aren’t going through the front door?”

He shook his head. “Nope.”

I followed him around the back of the house and found a beautiful concrete patio with gorgeous wicker furniture surrounding a fire pit. My jaw dropped open as I gazed over the backyard, my eyes sweeping over the pristine lake off in the distance. I couldn't imagine how much someone paid to live in a place like this. All alone, with no one around, and nothing but nature to keep someone company.

I found myself very jealous.

I could never have something like this.

“Hannah?”

“Hmm?” I asked as I turned around.

He pointed to a door. “This is your door. It comes right out to the balcony without having to come upstairs, and it leads right into your living room.”

I blinked. “I’m going to have a living room?”

“Yep. Come see.”

He opened the screened porch door and I quickly followed him inside. The quaint little living room had a small two-person dining table sitting by the window directly to my left. A small kitchenette with three barstools was bellied up to an elongated countertop in front of me. There were two couches and a recliner surrounding an electric fireplace and a flat-screen television mounted on top of the mantle. The plush carpet greeted me as Ash turned to the right, taking me down three little stairs.

And when he flipped on the light, my jaw dropped to the floor.

“What the fuck?” I asked.

Ash walked over to the king-sized bed. “You should be comfortable here until you find yourself a place. I know it’s kind of weird, having the toilet and the shower exposed to the bedroom. I haven’t gotten around to putting up a privacy wall yet.”

I blinked. “Wait, you added on this addition?”

He dropped my stuff next to the bed. “Nah. It came with my purchase. But it was pretty roughed-up when I found it. Took a couple of years to get it like this.”

“So, you remodeled it.”

“Essentially.”

“So, you hunt, you fish, you have your own place, and you’re a handyman.”

He nodded. “I guess.”

I snickered. “Whatever woman snatches you up better do whatever she can to keep you, I’ma tell you that.”

He chuckled, and the sound pulled me right to him. I wanted to hug him; I was so excited. There was no way in hell my ex would find me out in the middle of nowhere. Especially since I had no idea how long we drove through the woods in order to get here. I walked over to the glass-encased walk-in shower and marveled at the waterfall showerhead. I turned toward the bed and watched Ash fluff the pillows, which practically made my damn nipples hard.

“You’re a hell of a man,” I murmured.

“What was that?” Ash asked.

I cleared my throat. “Nothing. Just a bit tired and talking to myself.”

He flipped the covers back. “I’m sure you are. We drove all through the night to get here. I’m shocked you stayed awake the entire time.”

I shrugged. “Call it a talent of mine.”

He chuckled. “Noted.”

His eyes met mine and my toes curled in my shoes. I didn’t know what it was about this man that toppled me head over heels, but I couldn't stand it. Well, I could, but I didn’t want to. I wanted to jump his bones, rip his clothes off, and slide my tongue along every creviced line of his muscles his body had.
