“So much sacrifice,” she added.

She grabbed the soda and walked toward the door, but without thinking, my hand reached out, curling around her bicep. “What the hell are you talking about?”

She rolled her eyes and sighed. “For fate’s sake, Bella, keep up!” Keep up? Wait, had I missed something somewhere? “Roth’s mate is in trouble, and we have to help.”

“Roth’s mate? I thought she was from a different pack. That woman out there is human.”

She gave me another eyeroll. “Not that mate, this one. She’s run into some complications, I can tell. But with my help, she and Roth will be the perfect fit.”

She’d gone and lost her marbles, that was for sure. “Roth can’t mate with a human, it’s not even possible.”

This time, Lynn threw her head back and laughed. “Normally, this is true. But can you feel it?”

“Feel what?” She was beginning to creep me out.

“The power of the amulet. It’s here.” Before I could manage to get out another question, Lynn was out the door, two sodas in hand, heading for the table with two humans, already ready to welcome them to the pack.
