I watch the sassy blonde that has completely entranced me make her way to the bar with the other girls. She peaks over her shoulder, looking back. When she sees me staring at her, she whips her head back around and pretends to pursue the bottles that are displayed on the shelf behind the bar. I look at Deny with a wide grin. “You have no idea Deny, no idea at all.”
I give him one more fist bump before making my way to the bar. Nodding my head at a couple of people I know as I make my way there. Amelia is ordering her drink when I reach them.
“An amaretto whiskey sour please,” she yells to Seth over the loud music. Seth nods to her then sees me and gives me a chin raise.
“What about you, Judd? The usual?”
“Nope, not drinking tonight. I’m the devilishly handsome designated driver for these angels tonight. I’ll stick to water,” I tell him, giving Amelia a wink. She rolls her eyes while Hazel and Charlie giggle.
Seth places the girls’ drinks in front of them and Amelia sucks half of hers down before I even get my water. “Woah there Angel Cake, might want to pace yourself,” I tell her, leaning in closer so she can hear me.
She gives me a look from the corner of her eye that screams ‘Fuck Off’ before taking her straw out of the drink, laying it on the bar and tossing back the rest, slamming the glass down on the bar. My eyebrows shoot up and I look at the two women on her other side, making eye contact with Charlie, who’s trying to hide her smirk behind her cocktail glass.
Seth comes back to the center, and I hear Amelia order another drinkanda shot. If she keeps this pace up, she’s gonna be passed out or sick as hell before the night is over.
Seth places the shot in front of her and moves to make her drink. Amelia grabs the shot and turns her body towards me, leaning an elbow on the bar. She raises the shot in an air salute to me and downs it, keeping her glacier blue eyes on me the whole time, challenging me to say something.
Yeah, I’m not that stupid. I give her a smirk instead, and she smirks back before turning to the girls.
CHAPTER NINE
amelia
“Who the fuckdoes he think he is? Telling me to slow down,” I grumble as the girls and I make our way to the dance floor. Honestly, the fucking audacity of that man.
“What!?” Hazel yells from behind me. The music is getting louder the closer we get to the dance floor, and I can barely hear myself complain. I shake my head, letting her know that it’s nothing.
Charlie is in front, leading the charge to find a free space on the packed floor for us to dance. Even in the VIP section, there are bodies everywhere. Finally, a space opens up and we slide in, bumping along to the music and sipping our chosen poison of the night.
“You like him!” Charlie yells over the music.
“What!? Who?” Hazel yells.
Charlie tips her head towards the bar where Judd is leaning back against it, one elbow propped on the top, watching us. Looking sexy as fuck. The asshole.
“Millie likes Judd.”
“No, I don’t! He’s insufferable.” I yell back at her.
Charlie’s grin grows. “If it’s any consolation, it seems like the feeling is mutual.”
“You should go for it!” Hazel yells over the building tempo of the music as her body follows along like a cobra dancing to a flute. The girl can move, and it doesn’t seem like I’m the only one who notices. A trio of guys eyeball us and make their way over.
“Absolutely not. He’s not my type,” I say as the guys get closer.
“Sexy as sin isn’t your type?” Charlie asks, also noticing the tripod coming closer behind Hazel.
I scrunch my nose. “He’s notthatgood looking,” I say, taking a drink.
Hazel lets out an unlady-like snort. “And I’m a virgin.”
I roll my eyes, but the subject is dropped when the group of guys finally reaches us. Without uttering a word, the guys slip in and start dancing with us. At first, they keep a respectable, yet danceable distance, but soon into the third music transition, the guy I’m dancing with decides to get a little…handsy.
It’s subtle. A little slip here, bump there, easily mistaken for just accidents. But apparently because I don’t say anything about him ‘accidentally’ touching me, that’s an ‘all systems go’ in his mind. Before I know what’s happening, I feel his hand slide low, very low, almost too low, over my stomach and pull me back against him on a very prominent body part.
I let out a gasp, but no one notices over the music. No one except him apparently, because he leans down and says into my ear. “There’s more where that came from, shorty.”
Gag me.
