Judd snorts. “Not a good one.”
“Fuck off,” I spit out, feeling my temper rise again. “No one asked you. Actually-” I swivel in my chair to face the two assholes judging me from the living room. “No one invited any of you here. How did you two know where I was anyway?”
Judd holds up his phone and shakes it back and forth in his hand indicating that he told them.
I tip my head towards Brent who’s silently munching away on an eggroll. “He can stay, he brought food and is actually silent for once. You two can fuck off right out of here.”
“Chill out, no one’s fucking off anywhere,” Reese says, holding out his hands. “We want to help, we just want to know where your head’s at.”
Lucy’s face flashes in my head. “With Lucy, it’s always with Lucy.”
“Have you talked to her?” Reese asks the question my brother asked earlier.
I turn back to the counter and stare into my lo mein. With food in my stomach I’m starting to sober up, which means my rational side is making its appearance.
I nod.
“And?” Resse asks, “Did she explain what happened?”
Not answering right away, I get out of my chair and grab a glass from the cabinet. Turning on the sink, I fill the glass and drain it. I fill the glass again before turning back to them and leaning against the counter. “I really didn’t give her a chance. She wanted to talk about it in person and being the asshole that I am, I told her I didn’t want to see her.”
“Shit,” Brent says, grabbing another eggroll, half of it disappears into his mouth.
I blow a breath out between my lips and grab the back of my neck. “I might have told her we should press pause too.”
Groans erupt and Brent throws the remainder of his egg roll at me. It hits me in the chest and falls to the floor. I just stare at it, not making a move to pick it up.
“What the actual fuck, broski?” Judd asks. “I’m not the relationship type and even I know that was stupid.”
I tip my head back and groan. “I know, ok? I know, I was just so mad, and she was asking if I hurt my shoulder and if I was ok, and I just snapped.” I sigh. “It wasn’t my finest moment ok? Nothing about today has been normal for me. I just want to go to bed and wake up tomorrow and everything be back to normal.”
“I think it’s a little late for that bro.” He holds up his phone. “Mom just texted me, she said she tried calling you but your phone goes straight to voicemail.”
“I uh, might have smashed it.” I nod to the wall opposite of the couch where my phone still lays.
He nods, taping on his phone some more. His fingers freeze and he looks up at me, giving me a wide eyed look.
“What?”
Brent and Reese’s phones go off and they both pull their phones out, giving me the same look as Judd.
“What?” I ask louder, the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.
Judd tosses me his phone. I look at the screen and ice runs through my veins. An article is already up about the fight. It looks like someones been busy digging for information because the truth about what the fight was about is there in black and white.
Trouble in Paradise?
An uncharacteristic fight on the diamond from Kessler Davis today is the talk of the baseball world tonight. Davis, who has been in the big leagues for 14 years, has never once thrown a punch. Tonight is the night, it seems, for that stretch to end. Davis and Jared Cox, Short Stop for the Denver Devils, came to blows tonight, resulting in Cox sustaining a broken nose and several lacerations to the face.
What caused this usually mild mannered, leader of the Salem Silverbacks to become violent? Sources say Cox said some unsavory things about Davis’ girlfriend at the plate, resulting in Davis losing his cool.
Sticks and stones, Davis, sticks and stones.
Upon some research by our team, it has come to our attention that Cox shares a connection with Davis’ girlfriend Lucy Carver, who he recently announced he was dating. It seems Carver and Cox went to the same collegeand dated for a short period of time before Cox was drafted. Shortly after,
Lucy gave birth to her son, Hudson. Is it a coincidence or did Davis find out who Hudson’s real daddy is?
We reached out to Davis’ agent, who would only tell us it’s a personal matter and that Davis’ was protecting his family.
