Interesting. It seems murder is my love language. I wonder what Alaina’s is.

I pull Alaina into me by her stomach. “Easy, darling.” I walk us away from Olivia.

Alaina’s sweet plans involve ripping her to shreds. In this vision, she’s got that sexy, murderous look in her eyes.My little killer.

“You exposed your vulnerability. You weren’t worried about me getting to your mate at all.” Disinterested, Olivia inspects her nails.

Ah, shit.

Alaina struggles in my grasp to get to Olivia again, kicking as I lift her and turn the other way. I spin her to face me.

My little queen’s aura radiates grave hatred for Olivia, and it’s so fucking sexy watching her ferocity. I love that she doesn’t back down.

I sigh, fully aware of the backlash from what I’m about to say next.

“Alaina, she’s right.”

She puts her hands on her hips, cocking her head and parting her lips.

I place my hands on her shoulders and shuffle backward in case she decides to kick me in the balls.

“When your enemies know your vulnerability, they’ll use it against you. You lunged at her without thinking, letting your instincts get the best of you. Putting me—and yourself—at risk.”

She rolls her eyes.

“If someone grabs you in the middle of a fight, it’s over. I’ve lost. They’ve got me.”

Her chest heaving, she looks at me, wanting me to continue as she holds onto her anger.

“There is nothing I won’t do to keep you safe, and my enemies will know this. If they get to you, they’re getting whatever they want from me. You’re my weakness, Alaina. They will gladly use you to get to me and vice versa.”

She scrunches her face, contemplating my words.

I see her plan to push me away, and I don’t understand why. She furrows her brow and gives me her famous death glare.

Shit. What did I do now?

Alaina’s hair whips my face as she turns from me. As she stomps back to the castle, anger rolls off her.

My wolf grows more and more anxious the farther she gets. So, I follow her. Part of me thinks she wants space, but my wolf won’t let her be without me protecting her. Although I’m not sure a vampire or a rogue could compare to my little wolf’s temper. Whatever is going on in her head, she’s fuming.

Almost to the top of the staircase, she throws daggers my way upon me entering into the foyer. Practically breathing fire, she rolls her eyes, stomps up the steps—and for a moment, I thought I saw smoke come out of her nostrils.

Where’s my little volcano off to?

My wolf prays she’s headed toward our bedroom and the possibility of angry sex. Alaina doesn’t tell me not to follow her or to go fuck myself, so I take it as a good sign.

My wolf begs to hunt the prey who’s swinging its hips in front of me as she saunters down the hallway to our bedroom.

My wolf flips inside, excited for his mate to take her anger out on him. I lean in to kiss her, and she moves her head away from me.

Okay, so maybe angry sex isn’t on her mind.

“As your mate,” she begins in a biting tone, “I don’t want your former fiancée here.”

Ignoring her tone, my wolf and I growl in approval at her, recognizing that she is, in fact, ours.

Mate is jealous. The beast inside grins wickedly.
