“What is it?” I ask.

He rests his head against my lower abdomen and closes his eyes. When he opens them again, he splays his palm over my lower abdomen. “You are carrying our fledgling,” he whispers.

My heart stutters and stops. “You’re sure?”

He stands and cups my cheek, his eyes searching mine. “I am certain.”

A smile crests my lips and tears sting my eyes, but I blink them back. “We’re going to have a family,” I breathe out.

He pulls me into his arms, pressing a series of tender kisses all over my face before capturing my lips in a claiming kiss. “My beautiful, wonderful, perfect, mate,” he whispers against my lips. “We’re going to have a family.”

I place my palm over my lower abdomen, and he rests his hand atop mine. Joy surges across the bond as we bask in the shared wonder of the life we’ve created.

In the sanctuary of the library, surrounded by the echoes of stories long past, Kyven presses his lips to mine again in a tender kiss. “Tell me this is real and not just a dream or a vision.”

“This is real.” He cups my cheek, staring deep into my eyes. “I am yours and you are mine. Always.”
