“I missed being able to touch you today.”
“The width of the aisle seems to be getting bigger.”
At least she feels the pull the same as me. I push inside, kicking the door closed behind me. “Why don’t you let Dodge go so I can greet you properly?”
“Your mother must be so pleased with your manners.”
“Not my mother but a nanny.” As soon as Jayne sets him on the floor, I pin her against the wall and nuzzle against her neck, letting her scent fill me. I can’t stop myself from running my hand over her stomach, even though there’s still no bump at all. “You look beautiful and sexy, as usual.”
“Thank you.” She pushes her leg between my thighs. “It’s kind of fun pretending I hate you at court and then being able to do this after hours, but I can’t wait for the case to be over.”
I cup her face to stare into her eyes. “Same.”
Jayne traces my lips with her tongue and then kisses me—hard.
Blood rushes south. This woman will be the end of me, but what a way to go. “When will your cousin and her boyfriend be home?”
She shakes her head.
Huh? I’m not sure if this is another one of her riddles. “Yet your leg is still between my thighs, and your nipples are almost poking my eyes out.”
Her gaze drops to her shirt. “How the hell do you have the ability to make them so pointy at the mere sound of your voice and the taste of your lips?”
“It’s a gift,” I say nonchalantly. “Though if you’re cold, I see a throw on the back of the couch that I can wrap you in.”
“Not cold.”
“So sixty-nine?”
Her face falls. “That was part of your instructions to find me tonight. I want to do that, but we can’t here.”
“Can’t?”
“No, sorry.”
“Why?”
She glances at the dog, who stares at us. “Dodge.”
“I don’t think he’ll care.”
“I won’t be comfortable having s-e-x in front of him.”
“There are doors.”
“I don’t want to hurt his feelings.”
For a minute, I think she’s joking, but I see the concern in her eyes for the dog, and my chest tightens. All I want to do is rub the spot where it feels tight. Jayne cares about what her cousin’s dog might think or feel. She’s one helluva woman, and I’m glad she’s mine. Or will be mine once the trial is no longer hanging over us. I have some more work to do, but I’m confident we can work this out. “That’s fine.”
“Really?” The hope in her voice matches the gleam in her eyes.
“Of course. Though what kind of new memories will we be making here? My mind went to one thing.”
“Sorry about that.” Though the amusement on her face makes me think she’s not that sorry. “We’ll be playing with Dodge. We can do the other stuff when we get back to my place.”
“I’m good with that.” I stare at the dog. “I know how to play with my nieces and Buttercup. What does Dodge like to do? Play fetch?”
“Sometimes. Other times, he’s more into humping.”
