“Call me Nate.”

Nope. That sounds almost intimate.

“What do you want, Jayne?” he continues.

My blood heats. Something compels me forward, something I can’t explain or control, and I kiss him, hard and long, soaking up the taste of him, a taste I don’t think I’ll be able to find anywhere else. I’m so screwed.

But this kiss is as mind-blowing as the others. His lips are soft, and he lets me take the lead. I want to explore his mouth, and that’s when his tongue turns insistent. He pushes his hard-on against me as if letting me know he’s still in control. Fuck it, I don’t care, even if I should. Desperate to feel his length, my fingers travel to the button of his jeans. I flick it open and then stop, common sense finally making me see the situation clearer. “This is a bad idea.”

“Because of the case.”

It’s not a question, but I nod. “I’m breaking rules I’ve never considered breaking before, risking my whole career. For what?”

His eyes darken, growing serious. “Are you asking if I’m worth it?”

Am I? I’m so horny. That much is clear, but so much is at stake. Still, I stare at his zipper, waiting for me to undo it. God, I want him so badly. “My career means everything to me.” I’m not sure if I say it for his sake or as a reminder to myself.

“I feel the same way about mine, but you can see—feel—how much I want you.”

I can, which makes saying no harder because I want him too. “I…”

Someone bangs on the door. Not once, but three times.

How did this become my life? I sigh.

Nathaniel groans. “Leave it. They’ll go away.”

“Jayne, it’s me. I need to come back in. I forgot my phone.”

I recognize the voice immediately and gulp.

“Oliver.” I drop my head to Nathaniel’s shoulder and inhale deeply. His scent makes me want to continue, but my colleague at the door means trouble. Is this a sign we’re taking too many risks and for what? Another one-night stand? “Coming.”

“Wow, just from me kissing you?” With a sexy grin, Nathaniel rearranges his dick and fastens his jeans. “I really am good.”

I shoot him a death glare and straighten my clothing before moving to the door.

I grab the door handle. “You need to go.”

“Not happening.” Nathaniel crosses his arms over his chest. “Give the man his phone, and then I’ll get you naked.”

My stomach flips at the idea of having him between my legs again, sucking on my clit, and kissing every inch of skin on my body—just like he did over a month ago.

“I need to let him in.” I turn the handle. “You really should go.”

“I know.”

“Are you going to?”

“Nope.”

Oliver knocks again. “Jayne.”

“He’s very insistent.” Nathaniel’s mouth moves closer. “But then, so am I.”

My panties melt, and as he pulls me in for another kiss, they combust.
