“We might be able to work something out.” I try to keep my voice playful when my heart is ready to take the plunge. I don’t get it. We spent one night together. Yes, the sex was incredible, but we haven’t known each other long. My feelings shouldn’t be this intense already.

Remember how you proposed to Aisha after three months?

My head and my heart seem to be ganging up on me now.

I don’t know how long we stare at each other, but I’m not ready for the moment to end. Her gaze drops to my towel. “Sexy.”

“It’s all I had in there.” I motion to the floor. “I’ll have to wear my dirty clothes home and change before going to work.”

“Too bad.” Her lower lip pushes out. “I prefer you in nothing. Although this towel is a close second.”

Her seductive tone and the way she licks her lips tell me exactly what she wants to do right now. “We don’t have time for…”

She raises her eyebrows. “Getting frisky?”

Fuck. That sounds like a great way to start our day. Only then I’d need another shower. “Not if you want one of my world-famous breakfasts.”

“World famous for what? How delicious they taste, or the number of food poisoning cases reported to the Seattle Health Department?”

“That’s for me to know and you to find out.” I wink and whip off the covers from her to be greeted by the sight of her naked body. I take a moment to appreciate every lush curve and delectable inch of smooth skin. “If you don’t hurry, though, you’ll miss out.”

She huffs but scoots toward the edge of the bed. “Just sayin’ this better be a good breakfast.”

“Or?”

“I’ll think of something.”

I laugh. “You’ll see.” I gather my clothes, hoping she has the ingredients I need. “Now get going. I don’t want to have to tell you again.”

As she stands, her breasts jiggle, and my dick goes to half-staff under the towel.

“I love how younger men are always ready to go.” Zelda kisses my cheek, rubbing her bare breasts against me and sending my remaining blood rushing downward. “Oops. Hope I don’t leave you with blue balls.”

“You did that on purpose.”

As she heads to the bathroom, swaying her hips, she glances over her shoulder at me. “Maybe.”

Funny, but when it comes to sex and quips like she just made, she seems more like the CEO I’m used to.

I stand frozen until the shower goes on. That’s my cue to get dressed so I can start breakfast, or I get the feeling I’ll never hear the end of it.

The pancakes are cooking, the scrambled eggs are ready, and the bacon is good to go. I didn’t expect to find a stocked kitchen, but once again, Zelda surprised me. I put butter and syrup—I should’ve guessed she would have a glass bottle of the good kind, not the cheap imitation stuff I buy—on the table and then return to the stove.

“Something smells good.” She enters the kitchen dressed in a black skirt and a pink blouse with black stripes. Her black pumps have a heel that isn’t quite as sensible as the toe shape but makes her calves look amazing. She wears glasses and her hair up on her head. Yep, she has that sexy librarian vibe down. “I figured you’d ordered breakfast to be delivered.”

“Ye of little faith.”

“I’m sorry.” She kisses my cheek, then wipes it with her hand. “Oops. Lipstick.”

“I don’t mind.” I like the idea of being marked by her, which should tell me how far gone I am for this woman. I need to focus. “Do you think I could ask you a few questions?”

Her eyebrows shoot up to her forehead this time. There’s nothing sexy or seductive about the gesture, only surprise. “Off the record?”

“You have approval over what’s published, but I did have a few background questions if you don’t mind.” I plate the food. “Sit.”

She does, and then I place a plate in front of her and take the spot opposite her with my food. “You did make me breakfast, and we all know it’s the most important meal of the day, so sure, you can ask your questions.”

Interesting, but she didn’t agree to answer any, or maybe I’m reading too much into her words. I take a bite. Yes, I outdid myself.
