“Not really. If he survives the Holland War, he will be an Alpha.”
Gooseflesh rippled across his forearms. The young boy was laughing with Haydan Walker, Gunner and Captain’s dad.
“What will his animal be?” Wreck asked.
“Oh, someone with a Turn left will give him an animal,” she said. “Someone from the Fastlanders.”
“Corey has a bear left to give. His mother will have a lion. Captain has a bear.”
“Mmm.” Lucia’s nonchalant answer made him turn his head again to see her face.
“You have a Turn left to give too,” she said softly.
Ha. Wreck would never bestow this curse on anyone. Not ever.
Lucia dragged her gaze from Ruger, and her bright-green eyes bored right into Wreck. “Who knows. Perhaps he will be the next Fastlander Phoenix.”
Oh, she knew what he was.
Wreck fought the urge to drag lightning down from the sky and roast her for saying the word. He clenched his jaw and dragged his attention back to the boy, then ripped up the card he’d signed and let the confetti pieces fall from his fingertips to the ground. Then he shot a fireball at it and lit the pile on fire.
“Get fucked, Lucia,” he gritted out as he walked back into the woods.
“I already did. That’s why I’m with child,” she called after him.
Wreck lifted a middle finger at her, and then disappeared into the trees.
He would die before he ever Turned anyone into this.
