“Yes! Trust me. Taylor told me about this place once.”

“That area is just fuck motels, sweetheart.”

She waggled her eyebrows. “I know. But they’re themed. This one has a space theme. I want to try. Come on, ride an astronaut. Isn’t that like a thing?”

He started laughing. “I’m pretty sure it’s ride a cowboy. But I’m not judging if you’re into astronauts.”

“Come on, please,” she pouted. “It’s been such a fun night, let’s do some role play. I’m the sexy alien you found when you were astronauting. Please.”

“Astronauting? You make a billion dollars a minute. You have a house the size of a small island. Hell, you live on a small island! And you want me to take you to a fuck motel, that’s probably not sanitary, in a shitty neighborhood?”

“As astronauts!” she added, as if that was the most obvious reply. “You can be the alien if you want. I’m open,” she winked.

“You’ve gotten weird,” he said, straddling the bike and motioning for her to hop on. “Funny and weird.”

How could he deny her anything, not after it was his idea to get out of the house, and the woman wanted to role play in a fuck motel?

“Come on, abduct me, honey,” she goaded him.

Oh, yeah, it was on.

The ringing from his phone woke him up in the middle of the night.

“Hello?” he said, pushing her hair aside. It was a tangled mess around his face, and he had to sputter some out of his mouth while unraveling her naked body from around his.

From the handful of times they’d now had sex, and the way she’d gotten really into character during the role playing last night, it was clear the woman had no issues with her sexuality. He’d never had so much fun with sex before. She was wild, uninhibited, and vocal. He loved it. Maybe because it was Megan, maybe because he was used to sex being mostly about getting off, but whatever it was, it was the best sex of his life. He wondered if this was what it would have been like five years ago. Exhausted and satisfied, he was not looking forward to whoever was calling.

“It’s me,” Joey said.

“Time is it?”

“Four in the morning.” Joey said, which caused Jax to sit upright. Middle-of-the-night calls always came with bad news.

“Jackson, honey?” Megan asked, sleepily.

“Go back to bed, baby,” he whispered, then turned his attention back to Joey as he walked to the bathroom and shut the door. “Tell me.”

“There was a breach in security at Megan’s house. It happened in E1.”

“Her bedroom?”

“Yes.”

“Fuck! Did you get anything?”

“There’s some video but it’s not good. It stormed last night and the feed wasn’t great. I’m sending it to you now. See if there’s anything she can make out.”

Jax’s heart hammered in his chest, rage taking over, but he had a job to do and he needed to focus. “Send a crew to see about the connection. I want it airtight. Anyone comes into the area, I want to be notified immediately. He shouldn’t have bypassed the front fucking gates. How the fuck did this even happen?”

“There’s more.” The tone of his friend sent chills down his spine. Jax sat on the edge of the tub and braced himself.

“What’s the ‘more’?” He looked around the space-themed bathroom glowing from the glow-in-the-dark green body paint they’d used. The huge asteroid-looking mirror showed him that he was a disheveled mess. How it was that sweet, unpolluted Megan had slept with him, an unkempt yeti, was a mystery.

He threw water on his face waiting for the bad news to come.

“I’m calling you from her house. We already did an entire sweep. There was a box on her bed.”
