“Well, last night Finn and I got down and dirty. It was a bit different to what it normally is. This had some kinkiness to it, but other than that, I think you're safe."

“Good to know. So, are you going to tell me what your bad news is?”

“Finn and I broke up this morning.” Calvin looks at my unsurprised look. “You’re not saying anything.”

I'm not sure what to say; they always looked so happy. "Has it got anything to do with the kinky sex you had, or did Finn finally wake up and realize that he’s way too good looking to be gay?” I ask, trying to make light of it. The moment they started dating three months ago, I kept telling him that he was too hot to be gay. I mean, that man could give Brad Pitt a run for his money.

“Get lost. I’m good looking.”

“Yeah you are, but Finn was better.” I start laughing as Calvin throws a handful of peanuts at me. “I’m sorry, what happened?”

“Nothing. He said that with my work, we never really get to see each other and he can’t really afford to keep flying out to see me.”

“I’m sorry. I know that you liked him a lot, and dating is hard for us. I mean, we spend two weeks out of the month in America. The life of an air hostess.” We’re both working for the same airline. We try really hard to get the same flight routes—about ninety percent of the time we do get the same shift—the only time we don’t is if they need someone to cover a staff member being sick.

“Yeah, no wonder you’ve not had sex for nearly a year.”

I throw my pillow at him. “It’s not been a year.” I shout at him as he starts laughing. “Has it really been a year?”

"It's coming to a year. You might want to find someone when we go to LA. I'm going to make it my number one mission to find you someone when we are there."

"That's great, and when you find a super hot, super sexy, super tall guy, I'm in. Until then, leave my sex life alone." I'm not picky, I just know what I like, and to be honest, I could have sex with anyone. I mean, the moment the plane is in the air, most of the single men will flirt with me. By the time we land, all I want to do it go back to the hotel room and sleep, alone.

"Nightclubbing in LA is always a lot of fun."

LA has always been one of my favorite places to go to, and we do tend to ask a lot that if there is a flight going there, so Calvin and I can work it, sometimes we get lucky, sometimes we don’t.

"I see we got lucky," I say as I put my phone back on the table.

“Why’s that then?” Calvin asks.

"Only off to LA tomorrow. I can't wait. We’re going to hit that city hard, so it can't be a late one tonight—I need to pack."

“Well, I don’t know how you pulled that one, but I’m glad you did,” Calvin says with a smile.

I do love when we both get to go on the same trip. Maybe my stay there will be a lot more fun.

"Oh, what did you get Dave?"

Dave is the closest thing to family I have. Well, him, his wife Gemma, and Calvin. When I was sixteen, the foster parents didn't want me in the house anymore, as their son kept looking at me the wrong way, saying my growing body was a distraction to him. Gemma was my social worker, and I told her that I just needed someone to take me in for two years. Just give me two years to save my pay and I can afford somewhere to live. Two days later, she came to pick me up and I moved in with her and Dave. I was meant to stay there until I turned eighteen, but Dave said because I was no trouble, did my work around the house, paid for food, that if I wanted to stay longer to save more money, I could. There was no way I was going to say no to that.

I moved out of their house last year and got this place, but that’s not the only reason I see Dave as a father figure. He’s the senior air host of the team, and when I turned eighteen, he got me a job there, and I’ve loved every day of it. If it weren't for them, I'd be living on the streets.

I love traveling to America, and now I get to go every month, the best job ever. I've gotten to travel to places that I could only wish to see.

“I got him this rare whiskey—took me months to find. What’ve you got him?” They invite Calvin to Dave’s birthday dinner, too, as they know how much he has been there for me.

“I got him a day out to drive a car of his choice.” Calvin waves the tickets in front of my face. "I think I win this year." Every year we both have a competition to see who gets him the best gift, and I usually win.

"No, you don't."

"You say that every year, and the only reason he says he likes your gift is because he doesn't want to upset you."

"We'll see. Do we have anything planned in LA this time?" I ask.

Calvin always has things planned for us, and most of the time, it involves a nightclub or two. Now, I'm not going to mind, I love to dance, but sometimes, he picks these weird clubs that plays music I've never even heard of before. Once, he took me to this club, and it was some weird fancy dress where they came as their favorite animal or something. I think I lasted thirty minutes in there.

“Well, the first night is clubbing, if I can find you a man then I’m hoping the four days you will have a lot of sex.” Calvin laughs, and I already want to hit him.
