He pointed across the room to a glass container near the window where several dark purple flowers were in bloom. I’d been too involved with the sex to notice the scent until I saw them.

“They bloomed!”

He nodded. “Just like our love.”

“You’re such a cheese ball,” I chuckled.

“But I’m your cheese ball.”

I nodded, giving him a big smile. Then, remembering something id planned for him, I leaned down and grabbed my jeans, pulling them toward me.

“Anxious to get back?”

“No,” I replied. “I have something for you.” I pulled a small flat box out of my pocket and handed it to him. “Merry Christmas.”

“Is it a watch?” Josh asked, shaking the box.

“Just open it.”

Untying the thin red ribbon, he flipped the lid open to reveal a silver key on a small black cushion.

“A key to my house? Yeah. It is.” I reached up, cupping his cheek. “When you’re ready, I’d love to have you come live with me. But only when you feel comfortable.”

“So… tonight?” he smiled, his voice hitching as a tear came to his eye. “I’d love to be with you every moment I can. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

I felt my own tears forming and I gave him a shove. “Stoppit. You’re gonna make me cry.”

“I’m ready,” he nodded. “And I love you more than anything Andy.”

I pulled him into my arms, sniffling the whole way. “I love you too you big idiot.”
