“The boys and I will get there, eventually. Let’s change the topic. Are you going to be seeing him again?”

“Of course. Already planned it.”

“You lucky gal! Good, at least you’re forgetting Benoit.”

Lisa was right. Since I came to the island, I wasn’t thinking about him as much. I wasn’t depressed anymore either. Benoit was just a distant memory. Life on the island had already changed me. I was no longer this serious, punctual, play-by-the-book kind of girl. Instead, I turned into an open-minded, adventurous, playful woman who had been having the best sex of her life.

“I just wanted to call you and boast.” I laughed.

“Yeah, just rub it in. I don’t think I’ll be seeing any action soon. I mean, not that I care. I’m just glad to be hanging out with the kids. I don’t even know what a dick feels like anymore.” Lisa sighed.

“You’re so funny. At least, you have the kids.”

“I know. Well, I think I am starting to get sleepy.” Lisa yawned again.

“Good night, Lisa.”

“Good night, Harper.”

Lisa sent me an air smooch, and I disconnected the call. I was about to get up when I got a text message. It was from Julian. He had sent me a dick pic with the message: I can’t wait to be inside you again.

The picture of his dick made me want to be with him.

I texted him: I already miss your thick dick.

I already knew that tonight, before I go to sleep, I was going to be thinking about Julian. And if I was lucky, I might even dream of making love to him.

Chapter 8

Riding the Wave

We gave Captain Youssef a good send off. I cooked his favorite maqluba—a Palestinian dish of meat, rice and vegetables. I also made knafeh, a sweet dessert made of cheese, pastry dough and syrup. I had never cooked those meals before, but I did my research. Captain Youssef was very appreciative and even asked for a second serving of the rice dish. I was going to miss watching the sunrise with the captain.

The crew chatted animatedly about anything under the sun. Kathleen turned on some dance music, and so we danced. Paul and Zofia, however, were only dancing with each other. Kathleen diverted my attention to the two of them.

“Looks like they’re having a grand time,” I commented.

“They look so cute together,” Kathleen pointed out.

“Romance is in the air,” I said.

After dancing, we went to the upper deck to enjoy the night sea breeze. The moonlight was bright. The girls had their wine while I only had my sparkling flavored water with me. Captain Youssef stood in front of the stern rail and rested his elbow on it. I stood next to him.

“I’m glad you’re seeing your family again, Captain.”

“I know. I can’t wait to see my wife and kids. They’ll be glad to see me.”

“It must be a tough life, being a sea captain.”

“Indeed, it is. But I keep in touch with them a lot. It’s been better with the internet. Much harder twenty years ago, of course. I’ve created a comfortable life for my family. That’s the trade off.”

“Are you retiring soon?” I asked.

“Yes, I am. In the next one or two years. But my wife had gone with me on some of my charters. I haven’t been that lonely all these years. I’ve worked in bigger vessels too. I just prefer these smaller yachts. Much easier to maneuver and a lot less stressful than handling a tanker, a cruise ship, or even a cargo vessel.”

I marveled at Captain Youssef’s breadth of experience. “Wow, you’ve been around.”

“Yes, I’ve only started doing this luxury yacht charters for three years. I enjoy it.
