“Why do you sound surprised?”

“I’ve worried and stressed about it for so long that it’s hard to believe it’s happening.”

“Well, it is, and I couldn’t be prouder of you. I’m especially excited to try out the massage oil I bought, although I was disappointed it wasn’t edible.”

She laughed. “It’s not that kind of store. And you don’t need to pay. You are engaged to one of the owners.”

“Speaking of which.” He reached into his pocket. “I was going to wait until later, but I’ve never been good at holding back surprises.”

Abby’s heart pounded as he dropped to one knee.

“Abby O’Connell, let’s make this official. I want to spend all of my days and nights with you for the rest of our lives. Will you make an honest man out of me and marry me?”

She looked at the gorgeous man who held up an enormous princess-cut diamond ring and knew they’d make it work. Sure, there would be ups and downs, but any day with Connor was a good day. Abby would never doubt their love again, and would spend the rest of her life showing and telling him.

“I’ve only ever needed you, Connor. I’ll be the happiest woman to be your wife.” She held out her ring finger, and he slipped it on.

“Love you so much, my sweet Abby,” he said.

“Love you more.”

They shared a tender kiss that spoke of love and forever.

Connor waggled his eyebrows. “Think they’ll miss the boss for thirty minutes?”

She pushed him toward the stairs. “I think they’ll be just fine.”

Life with Connor was going to be exciting, full of passion, adventure, and love.

She couldn’t wait another minute for it to start.
