He nodded and accepted quick hugs from each of the chastised women, and a handshake from Jaxon.
Then his mate was there and, after saying her apology, wrapped herself around him and held on tight. Lifting her into his chest, he smiled as he brushed kisses on her temple.
“It’s over, waif. All is forgiven. You are Papa’s good, good little baker.”
Shaw lifted her head from his shoulder and looked at him with a watery smile. “I love you, Papa. Always and forever.”
“Always and forever, my sweet mate,” he responded before kissing her.
Though he wanted nothing more than to carry his mate home and love on her for the rest of the evening, they had dinner to serve the residents and trainees.
“Come on, we need to get dinner out before the singles decide to take over my kitchen. Then someone will be in real trouble.”
“Yes, Chef. Anything you say, Chef.” Shaw giggled as he set her back on the ground. “After dinner do you think I could show you where we decided the playground should go?”
Chapter Eighteen
It took the Littles a number of meetings over the next few weeks to decide on what they wanted to include in their playground. A princess tower with climbing walls leading up to it had gotten a big no from their mates, but somehow, they had managed to talk them into it. Swings, a teeter-totter and a sandbox, as well as a place to tumble and play were also included. The Daddies added benches for them to relax on while they watched their mates play, and a chair that faced the woods for those times when the Littles needed a time-out to calm down or think about their naughty actions.
Once they finalized their list of everything they wanted, Lonergan brought in a playground designer who worked with them on taking their needs and requests and turning them into a castle-themed playground with everything sized for adults. The designer suggested adding a fence around the space, which was reluctantly accepted by the mates.
Eight weeks after Shaw had suggested the idea, she and Marshall stood with Lonergan and Talia in front of a long ribbon that crossed the entrance to the fenced-in playground. She was amazed at how quickly things had come together after the designer had gotten involved, though she had a feeling things always moved quickly once Lonergan and the other Daddies made up their mind about something. After all, they had the money and government backing to do just about anything wanted.
When Lonergan handed her the scissors, she accepted them with a smile before turning to the crowd that had gathered.
“I’d like to dedicate this playground to the mates who will use it for years and years to come, and the love that each mated couple shares. May that love we each feel continue forever and ever, and the ones who have yet to find their mates do so before their too old to enjoy mated life.”
“Oh, shit,” Marshall muttered as she snipped the ribbon and officially opened the park.
“What, Papa?”
“Nothing, waif. I just hope the ones who don’t want to mate don’t come for your head.”
Fear shimmered through her for a moment before she saw his smirk. “They wouldn’t really hurt me, would they, Papa?”
“No, sweet mate. And if they try, I’ll protect you. But you might want to make extra cookies to soothe them, just in case.”
“I can do that,” she said before grabbing his hand and pulling him inside the fence. “For now, can you push me on the swing, please, Papa?”
“Anything for you, waif.”
Marshall was glad he had planned sloppy joes and chili for dinner because getting the Littles to leave the playground once they were finally able to use it was nearly impossible. Only when the temperature began to drop, and thunder rumbled through the valley were they able to convince the resident Littles to leave and head for the dining hall for dinner.
“Thank you, Papa,” Shaw said as she swung their linked hands back and forth as they led the parade toward the dining hall.
“For what, waif?”
“For not telling Lonergan to get rid of me that first day I was here. For allowing me to work in your kitchen—”
“Our kitchen,” he corrected.
“For protecting me from RBX and letting me fill your kitchen with all my bakeware.”
“You’re very welcome. Thank you for coming to Bratburg and taking over the baking side of the kitchen. Thank you for not running for the city the first time you saw me in my tiger form. Thank you for being you. Now, let’s get dinner served so we can go home, where I plan on having a special dessert.”
Shaw looked up at him with a curious twinkle in her eye and mischievous grin on her lips. “Oh? What dessert is that?”
“You, my sweet mate. I’m going to eat your pussy, and fuck your pussy, and play with your body until you can’t move.”
“Oooo, I like that kind of dessert.”
While the others ate, Chef and his beautiful assistant put together several breakfast casseroles that would allow them to sleep a few minutes later in the morning. If anyone questioned why the meal was rushed and no one was allowed to linger over an extra dessert or cup of coffee, they did not say anything.
Once they turned out the lights and left the dining hall, Marshall lifted Shaw and tossed her over his shoulder. When her stomach rumbled, he realized he had once again been a neglectful Daddy. “You didn’t eat dinner, did you?”
“Neither did you, Papa,” Shaw pointed out as she began patting his ass cheeks like they were bongos. “I guess we’ll just have to put off dessert until we eat something. Or we could have dessert first and dinner after.”
Marshall chuckled as he quickened his pace, his cock growing harder with each step. “I think that’s another of your excellent ideas, waif. Dessert before dinner. Yum yum.”
