“I know, my sweet angel. I feel it just as you do. Every beat of my heart belongs to you. Everything that I am is yours.”
I melt into him, and not a moment later, he picks me up off the ground and lifts me into his strong arms. He walks us out of the torture chamber, blood dripping off us and staining the floors, and as he makes his way into the massive bathroom, I can’t help but dance my fingers up and down his sculptured arms.
He’s absolutely perfect.
Every ridge of his strong body, so perfectly carved out of stone, is a testament to years spent in excruciating training, and I get to call it all mine. Yet despite how entirely incredible he is to take in, nothing beats the soul inside. The man that I’ve come to know. He’s so beautifully broken, but so am I, and the pieces of our shattered remains fit together like a complex puzzle.
“You know, I was nervous about that,” I admit as he clutches me tighter and leans into the shower, turning on the taps.
“Which part? Sergiu or letting me fuck you?”
“Both,” I say. “But in particular, the part where you bent me over and pushed inside of me.”
His gaze softens and as he pushes my blood-soaked hair off my face, he steps into the warm water, only just when I think he’s about to say something monumental, a cheesy smirk settles onto his full lips. “To be fair, you bent yourself over.”
I roll my eyes, and as the water rushes over us, I can’t help but notice the way it turns red, washing away the sins of what just went down. “I was worried that the second I felt you, their faces were going to torment my mind and suddenly it wouldn’t be your hands on my body, it’d be theirs. But it didn’t. It was only you I saw. Only you I felt.”
Killian nods and settles me onto my feet. “You won’t ever have to worry about them again. I’ve got you, Chiara. And I’m not letting you go. I was foolish to think I could do life without you.” He pauses as I hold his stare, and as the water finally runs clear, he circles his arm around my waist and pulls me against his strong chest. “Grapes are crushed to form wine, and seeds only grow when in darkness.”
My brows furrow as I try to make sense of what he’s saying, but he ignores my confusion and goes on. “Olives, they must be pressed to release their fine oils, but diamonds, my sweet angel. Diamonds are formed under immense pressure, and while they are undoubtedly beautiful and dazzling, their strength is unmatched. You, Chiara, you are my diamond.”
Everything within me melts, and he lifts my chin to hold my stare. “You’ve overcome the impossible, Chiara. You balance me, and despite knowing what kind of man I am and what I am capable of, you continue to love me anyway. You see through the darkness, and I will never take that for granted. I wish to be your world, Chiara. I wish to give you everything you could ever desire.”
“Don’t you see?” I murmur, pushing up onto my toes and kissing him. “You’ve already given me everything. Just getting to be in your presence is more than I could have ever asked for, but you give me yourself, and within you, I’ve found where I truly belong. You once told me that when you declared me as your wife, it felt real, and while I know we were only starting to get to know each other, I couldn’t have agreed more. I feel like I am your wife, and I want to keep being your wife. I want to give you joy and a family to be proud of. I want to give you everything you never thought you deserved because you do deserve them. You deserve it all.”
Killian scoops me back into his arms and presses me against the wall as I feel him harden between us. He doesn’t waste a moment, slipping back inside me, and as if on cue, we both let out a satisfied sigh. “I’m going to marry you, Chiara DeLorenzo.”
A stupid grin pulls across my lips as he slowly starts to rock in and out of me. “You already did,” I tease.
“For real, Angel. I want your signature on the little dotted line. I want to see you in a ridiculous white dress, walking down the aisle right into my arms. And once I officially make you mine, I’m going to spend the rest of my life between these pretty thighs and listening to the way you scream my name.”
“Oh really?” I ask, seeing the rest of our lives playing out so clearly in my mind. “And just how soon do you plan on making this happen?”
Killian grins, and the way his gaze softens makes my heart race with undeniable happiness. “Who knows?” he murmurs, his dark eyes twinkling with excitement. “Got any plans tomorrow?”
Well, shit.
I grin right back at him, that same excitement brimming in my chest. “I do now,” I tell him, and with that, the most dangerous and powerful man in the country pulls me off the shower wall and walks straight out to the bed, throwing me down and showing me exactly how he intends to spend every day of the rest of our lives.
