I made quick work of getting ready and pulled on the clothing. The sweater was a lavender cashmere, the same color as my eyes, and the jeans fit me perfectly. When had one of the guys had time to get this stuff?
Shoving that thought from my brain, I headed downstairs.
The faint sounds of conversation pulled me in the direction of the dining room we’d eaten in the night I’d come for dinner. That visit felt like a lifetime ago.
As I moved closer to the dining room, I could just make out Cillian’s voice above the rest. “The traitor has been dealt with.”
I frowned as I rounded the corner, but the moment I stepped inside the room, all conversation stopped, and five sets of eyes came to me. I swallowed hard, knowing my face was likely the shade of a tomato.
Cillian pushed his chair back and stood, crossing to me. He wasn’t wearing that black suit anymore, but a white tee that pulled taut across his chest and gray joggers that had my mouth going dry.
Cillian framed my face with his hands. “How are you feeling, Little Flame?”
“Okay,” I croaked.
He bent, brushing his lips featherlight across mine. “Good. Sit. Eat.”
As Cillian pulled back, I caught sight of Easton glowering at us.
“Don’t,” Cáel warned lowly, his gaze locked on Easton.
Easton opened his mouth and then snapped it shut.
I sent Knox a look as if to say, what was that about Easton liking me?
Knox just gave his head a small shake as Cillian led me to a spot between him and Knox. That was probably safer than the spot that was open between Cáel and Easton. Easton might stab me with a butter knife.
Maddox’s expression was carefully masked, but he studied me closely. “How’s your head?”
I thought about it for a moment. “Not too bad.”
“Any dizziness or blurry vision?” he pressed.
“I was just a little dizzy when I sat up this morning.”
Maddox’s jaw tightened. “You need to take it easy for a few weeks. Concussions aren’t anything to mess with.”
I nodded slowly. “Sure.”
“Knox and Cáel will do all your packing,” Cillian clipped.
I turned toward him. “Packing?”
“Yes. You’ll be coming to stay here. I have a room being readied for you.”
My spine stiffened, and Knox muttered a curse. “Excuse me?”
Cillian’s green eyes darkened. “You heard me. We have people in our world who’d love nothing more than to harm you. We need to make sure you’re safe.”
“And what world is that, exactly?” I challenged.
Cillian’s jaw worked back and forth. “It’s complicated.”
“Are you drug dealers? Or in a cult?”
His eyes flared. “You think we deal drugs?”
“What am I supposed to think? You have a ridiculous amount of money, you run some sort of underground club, and people want to kill you.”
