Maggie grinned. “Then this is the perfect plan. Maybe you’ll meet someone new.”
I bet she and Delaney would just love that. But as I stared down at the ID, I realized I wanted to go. To have one of those quintessential college experiences.
I dropped the ID onto my desk. “What should I wear?”
Maggie’s smile widened. “Why don’t you come shopping in my closet.”
I never should’ve let Maggie dress me. I tugged on the black spandex miniskirt that barely covered my ass. She’d paired it with these ripped-up tights and boots that came to mid-thigh. From the front, the black shirt she’d given me didn’t look that risqué, but when I turned around, I realized there was no back.
Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
My feet already ached from the boots I was wearing, and we’d barely walked a block from where the Uber had dropped us off. Maggie and Bella had linked arms and were chattering away. They were dressed in outfits similar to mine, so at least I wasn’t alone.
I glanced at Delaney, who was wearing a skin-tight black minidress with a million little cutouts all over it. “Are you sure this is the right place?”
From what I could tell, we were in the middle of nowhere. It looked more like an industrial park than somewhere a club might be.
Her white teeth flashed as she smiled. “We came last week when you were sick. It’s the best place around. You’re gonna freak.”
My stomach twisted. I didn’t know if freaking out was a state I wanted to voluntarily be in. I should’ve gone to the library with Cáel.
Letting out a whoosh of air, I picked up my pace. The gravel made it twice as hard to walk in these damned boots. As we turned a corner, the faint hum of noise tickled my ears, and a prickle of awareness hummed across my skin as if a phantom energy had swept across me.
As the building came into view, I gasped. It wasn’t the structure itself. That looked like the rest of the buildings we’d passed, a mixture of metal and brick. It was the massive line that wrapped around it that had me gaping.
Too many people to count. Most of them made our outfits look tame. One woman wore a completely see-through dress with no bra and simply a thong underneath. But I had to admit, she looked stunning. And I admired her fearlessness.
“We’ll be waiting here all night,” I muttered, trying to do the math in my head for how long it would take us to get inside.
“Please,” Delaney said, waving me off and heading directly for the front door.
A massive man with tattoos and a clipboard grinned as she walked toward him. “D-money. Back again?”
She smiled flirtatiously. “Cal, got room for four more?”
“For you? Always.” He lifted the velvet rope and let us inside.
Delaney stretched up on her tiptoes and pressed a kiss to his cheek. I also saw the flash of a hundred-dollar bill she slid into his pocket. “You’re the best.”
This was so far out of my league, it wasn’t funny.
A second bouncer held up his hand for us to wait. “One second.”
The first bouncer turned to him in question, and something flashed in number two’s eyes that made him back down.
“What’s the problem?” Delaney asked with annoyance.
Number two pinned her with a stare. “Wait,” he commanded.
There was an edge to his tone that had her snapping her mouth closed, but his gaze was locked on me. And that singular focus made me shiver.
What the hell had Delaney gotten us into?

The music barely penetrated my office, even with my shifter hearing. It had taken four times the soundproofing humans typically required, but the added time and expense had been worth it. It meant that I could have a sanctuary in the middle of debauchery and chaos.
