“Yeah, I didn’t get much sleep,” Ivy admits, a sheepish look on her face.

It takes a second for me to understand what she’s saying.

“Oh … ” I say, staring dead ahead. “Who’s the lucky guy?”

I clench my jaw, aware that my entire body is tense.

Of course she can fuck a guy.

What’s it to me?

But still, it doesn’t feel right.

“Just a guy,” Ivy says, barely looking in my direction.

Why does she sound guilty?

The two of us stare ahead silently until I can’t bear the thoughts in my head any longer.

“Was it worth it?” I ask, rubbing my lips to hide the snarl.

Fucking hell, what am I saying?

Ivy looks at me with surprise, her eyes wide.

“What?”

“The fuck. Was it worth it?”

Ivy blinks rapidly before shrugging.

“Uh, I guess … ”

Which means no.

It means some guy fucked her and emptied his load without considering her.

I drop my head into my hands, silently raging.

“Does your dad know you sleep around?” I ask, my eyes meeting hers.

I’m not being fair, but then, I can’t be rational around Ivy, and I don’t know why.

Ivy’s eyes flash with anger.

“Excuse me?”

Ah, fuck.

“I didn’t mean it to come out like that … ” I sigh, reaching out to cover her hand with mine. Warmth curls beneath my palm, and I squeeze her fingers. “I honestly didn’t.”

Ivy purses her lips and tugs her hand out from under mine.

“It’s none of my dad’s business who I fuck, nor is it any of yours,” Ivy hisses, glancing around her. “I want to watch Melody dance if you don’t mind.”

I lean back into my chair as she leans forward, and we remain silent until the dance lesson is over.

“I’m going to help Melody,” Ivy snaps, pushing past me.
