He’s making it impossible for me to brush my arousal under the rug, and I really can’t have him alerting the others to this newfound problem.

And a romcom? Gag me with a knife.

Crypt sees my nose wrinkle and grins. “You’d much prefer a bloody, gory slasher film, wouldn’t you, my dark little darling?”

He’s one hundred percent correct.

But far more importantly, I have to find a way to ditch these four gorgeous assholes soon, and sitting in a dark room with them nearby me to watch a movie is not going to help me get rid of the fantasies still playing out in my head. No matter how I fight the curiosity about what would happen if I actually tried to touch them, it keeps popping back into my head.

Maybe you’ll enjoy their hands on you.

No. Even now, my hands start to shake, so I quickly hide them under the counter’s edge. Thinking about skin contact is a rookie mistake, and I try to shove it from my mind altogether.

“Pass,” I mutter, standing as I prepare to make my escape.

Silas studies me thoughtfully. “There’s a large cemetery nearby. We can all walk through the graveyard under the light of the full moon.”

I hesitate. Full moons and cemeteries are two things I love.

“Come on, Boo,” Baelfire urges, eyes trailing hungrily over me that belie his lighthearted voice. “That’s right up your alley. Admit it, you wanna go on a creepy midnight hike through a bunch of dead people with four monsters. Well, three monsters and a Popsicle in a tweed jacket.”

“Fuck off,” Everett rolls his eyes but glances at me. “The cemetery, then?”

Damn it. They’re starting to get a feel for my macabre delights.

I plan to shut this down, claim I’m tired, and walk away, but my attention snags on Silas as he rolls up his sleeves, cuffing them to scoop his own ice cream. The muscles in his forearms are flexing as he glances over, catching my eye. His ruby irises darken immediately as if he’s noticed a shift in the room’s energy.

Crypt tips his head, his dreamy eyes tracing over me as he slides off the counter with graceful ease, tucking his hands in his leather jacket. It again draws my attention to the intricate, swirling pattern of markings on his skin, and I suddenly want to see how much of him they cover. Some are dark like tattoos, while others are pale.

“Something you want, love?”

No. I can’t want them. Bad, bad Maven.

I’m so godsdamned horny.

“No,” I say quickly, feigning ignorance to how they’re all fixating on me now.

Even Everett’s cool blue eyes have me pinned, and I swear my body heat is slowly mounting. For the hundredth time, I internally curse the gods for matching me with men this damn gorgeous. Why couldn’t they have been homely, unhygienic, body-odor-laced perverts with unkempt facial hair? Instead, my body is being torn between my conditioned fear of touch and the bone-deep burn of attraction.

Finally, I can’t take it anymore. I have to get out of here immediately.

“I gave you a day, and I owe you nothing else. Put on a movie by yourselves if you want, but I’m done here. From now on, I want all four of you to stay the hell away from me,” I declare before turning and practically bolting from the room.

MAVEN

I need to call Melchom to update him on where to meet me for the beating heart. That will take my mind off of how fucking wet I am.

I shut the suite door behind me and blow out a breath, covering my face. But my panties are damp with neediness. It’s ridiculous that just the thought of them with me like that incites this kind of reaction from my body. It makes me squirm, huffing at the arousal that I already know I can’t get rid of by touching myself because that never fucking gets me there.

Before I can track down my phone and call the demon, Crypt appears directly in front of me. I inhale sharply and take a step back, but that’s just as the door opens, and I suddenly feel body heat at my back, though they don’t touch me.

“You and your lies,” Silas whispers in my ear. His breath against my neck, stirring strands of my hair, sends goosebumps skittering to my toes. I can smell that same hint of bourbon and spice on him. “I told you, ima sangfluir. No more lying.”

“I am not—” I start to say, but my voice is far too breathy.

“Godsdamn, your arousal smells so fucking good, baby,” Baelfire groans as he steps into the room, inhaling deeply.
